Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

In most case you won't need the cup spares those are the big ones that go between the BB SHELL and the CUP. Spindle spacers are 24mm x 1 and got on the crank sprindle or shaft that connects left to right.

If you get it from RWC you will have everything you could need. If you are unsure which part kit to get just ask here and specify which crank set you want to use and I can double check their are 4 flavors a that work depending on the crank.

I am looking at installing an XD-15 BB on the new S40 fitted with SRAM Red GXP compact cranks. The range of XD-15 models leaves me perplexed. Which one should I order?

They sure changed their website since I bought mine. Here's what I got for my V20. This was the squared-off BB that the older chainstay bolted onto. Maybe contact Real World Cycling and they direct you to the best choice.

Basically the XD-15 had a lot of quality control issue. The above will work equally good or better if you have the new chainstays that don't clamp to the cups. If you have the old chainstay; either order an upgraded one; or email chris at RWC and ask about XD-15 availability.

What's the difference in the new chainstay why won't these BBs work with the old one?

The older style chain stay clamped around the actual bearing cups themselves, limiting the selection of BB's.

The new style has moved the clamps inboard, and clamp to the BB shell on the boom - leaving the shell open for any BB you want.
