Hey everybody,
Had a chance to ride a couple of more times in the last week.
First was Saturday last week, and I got in a 25 miler on a cool, clear day. Felt pretty good, and I'm getting more into the rhythm of the bike.....actually had a couple of turns where my feet "knew" what to do! Much smoother, but upper body, especially the shoulders, are tired..... avg speed ~ 16mph.
Second was on Friday....its been threatening snow here yesterday and today, but Friday was 50 and beautiful. I went off on another 25 miler with a new computer and bags on the Silvio (pictures to follow...). Much better being able to bring some water! I rode with one of my buddies, and I was smooth enough to ride side by side on the trail.....a big improvement. I again had turns where my feet "knew" what to do, and I can see how riding no hands must feel....but I'm not near there, yet. There is also a distinct distance where my upper body fatigues and I start to get a little squirrel-y. Last Saturday, it was at about the 12 mile mark....it just forced me to slow down, smooth out and relax my shoulders, and on Friday, it was at the 18 mile mark. The combination of trying to relax and getting the great upper body workout is definitely paying dividends with the Silvio. I actually feel fatigue in my abs! Not felt that with any other bike....ever! The bike feels like a fighter jet....very well balanced on weight distribution and carving turns is especially rewarding. Power to the ground is also very good, and I definitely feel the added power from the upper body. I can actually force an oscillation from the handlebars overpowering the pedal stroke....just like climbing on a DF. Hit a max of 43 kmh, and averaged 25.2kmh for 39kms. Not too bad....I'm looking forward to more riding! This week, I may be able to get 4 or 5 days in a row if the weather comes in as expected.

It's starting to all come together, now. Pretty soon, you'll be wondering how you ever got along without this bike!

Good report!

Sorry for the long drought on posts....Spring Break with the kids (rode a Tomahawk all over Palm Springs for a week...) and gearing up for the Beer Tide that is Summer have kept me busy. I did squeeze in a few rides, and I'm now over 300kms on the Silvio, and I'm really loving this bike. Rode my standard long loop (~ 45 miles) a couple of times, a few 25 milers, and everything felt great. I've smoothed out quite a bit, and I'm spending a lot of time on the big chain ring....I'm noticing less and less input from the shoulders, but they're still in use as I can't ride no-handed yet. I'm hoping to make it out today before dinner at the in-laws, at least a 25.....report to follow.

Jamie,

I wish I'd known you were in the Springs... That's just down the road from me! We might have hooked up for a ride and a beer!
