Can I rent your S40?

Unusual request. I get it. So, I'm riding the C&O route with my Zwift "friends" (air quotes courtesy of my wife) during the weekend of 9/7. I live in K.C. I have ridden an S40 for the last 4 years - a few thousand miles. In any event, it's going to cost $500 each way to ship the bike. As to the airline? Well, SWA told me it's okay but then I learned bike box too big and now the other airlines are super expensive. So, the unusual request: Would anyone let me "rent" their s40? We are meeting at a bike shop owned by one of the Zwift riders in D.C.

Alright, head shaking and laughing can begin in 3...2...1

Double check the dimensions with your airline regarding the bike box and what is allowable. I've flown with my cruzbike a few times now and it has never been treated as freight, always as a checked bag. You do and will have to break the bike down in order for it to fit in a bike box, ot to be better than paying 500$ or borrowing a S40, good luck either way.
