Cell Phone Storage

I am looking for ideas/solutions for cell phone storage on an S40. I installed a two-pouched fanny pack on the bottom of the seat pan of my Silvio 1.0, which provided plenty of space and ease of access. However, I have not found a similar solution for the S40. I have the carbon tailbox, but it does not allow easy access in case of emergencies. I would prefer not to clutter the handlebar; I already have a Wahoo Elemnt mounted. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Leif, thank you for the recommendation. I did spend some time on Amazon, but was unable to find a solution. I am trying to avoid a handlebar mount. I really do not have any available real estate. I have a TXCH carbon fiber handlebar installed, which mostly has a flat surface.

X2 on the sling pack. Ive used one on all my Silvios and the Softrider. The V20 will also sport one once it is on the road. Mine is the Terrecycle version but essentially the same minus logo. Fits repair gear, spare tube, keys, pump and phone with room to spare for a wind shell when necessary.

Thank you all for the suggested solutions. I was thinking about attaching a Velcro pouch to the back of the seat. I use either a Galaxy 8+ or Note 8, both are somewhat on the large size. I am also toying with the idea strapping my Gear S3 Frontier to the handlebar without creating too much clutter, or using a single micro earbud while wearing a Gear Fit. Both have the ability to serve as an extension of the phone. Although the Fit has some limits in functionality. In each of these options, I would place the phone in the tailbox. I am still noodling through the options.

Doug, the Thor seat really looks good on your S40. I do not have enough miles yet on my S40 to reach a conclusion of whether to make the change. Switching from a 1.0 to 40, I am still not quite sure whether a headrest is needed despite designing one using an Optima headrest.

I have a Thor seat on both my V20 and S40. On the V20 I use a Adem headrest. I bought an Adem headrest for the S40 when picking up parts, but the way the large Thor Easy GS fits me nicely supports my shoulders, and I've never felt like I've needed a headrest.

I am about 6'2", which places me near the top end of the L and towards the bottom of the XL. As others have noted, would probably be more helpful if they were sized by torso length rather than height. I should have a better understand whether to switch to a Thor seat during this upcoming riding season. Another big change will be moving from the current DuraAce Di2 10sp configuration to an 11sp XShifter set-up to increase the gearing range and mix/match RD and MTB components.

I am 6'2" also and just received my Thor seat. I checked with Greg, he said if I had normal to short torso to leg ratio, go with the large. If however torso is longer than average, go with x-large. I went with the large, but not mounted yet, so I can not give any feedback.

To carry my iPhone 6 I use a Topeak Aero Wedge Micro Strap-On Seat Mounted Bag. I believe these come in several sizes so you may need to go to a bike shop to make sure your phone fits.
This bag is attached to the rails of a DF bike with the straps and that are seen on top of the bag. There is a small strap on the end of the bag which goes around the seat post.

In the pic below I did the following in order to mount the bag to the top of the boom. Note that the bag is upside down with the tip of the logo pointed upward.
The new bottom is where the 2 longer straps are sewn to the bag. The small seat post strap was removed.

I cut an "Industrial" Velcro strip to fit to the new bottom which rests on the boom. The Velcro was attached to the bag with its adhesive and reinforced with staples through the bag. I used a piece of fuzzy side Velcro on the inside of the bag and stapled through that in order to reduce the chance of a staple scratching anything.

The bag is attached with the Velcro. The straps and buckles are passed around the boom and attached underneath. The bag can be adjusted fore & aft. The "Elemnt"computer is attached with Zip-Locks so it can be rotated up or down.

I decided to give up on finding a solution for now and store the phone in the tailbox. I will accessing remotely via bluetooth using a single earbud or other device. I had some lightweight dense foam available that used for similar project, a carbon fiber rear fairing. The foam keeps everything in place and prevents rattling and adds little weight. I have added a couple pics.

Mark, thanks for the information on the Thor seat. Not sure exactly what a normal torso is. If I sit up against a wall, the height is around 35". Let us know how it works for you.

Dean, what is your inseam? Mine is 34, and my x-seam is about 45. I consider myself average in proportions. But I have an in-law who is my hieght but has a 31 inch inseam and long torso. He has trouble driving my Fiat Abarth, because he hits his head. He would probably need the x-large Thor.

I will try to mount my Thor on Sunday, but might need to fabricate custom aluminum mounts to bolt to the seat, we'll see.
