Conti GP5000 TL 32mm

hey all,

I've just tried to mount the Conti GP5000 on my V20 (2018 with disc-break) on the backwheel. the lower bridge for the rim-breaks is narrower than the upper one, and the 32mm tire just touch this bridge. Did anyone grind down this bridge a bit, to mount a 32mm tire?

The largest common tire we run is 28mm with I think a couple of people mentioning 30mm but you're the first I recall trying 32mm. The bridge is not just for the brake, it's structural to the frame design so I'd be careful how much you try and take off. If the tire was clear while sitting in the garage and only rubbing a bit while riding due to tire flex I'd say you could grind a little frame away. But if it's making solid contact with without riding I'd guess you may need to grind away more then you think after taking wheel flex into consideration. If you know a good fabricator you could always cut out the bridge and weld in a new one further forward but that's a lot of work.

I see your point. the V20 is a bit to tight to fit a 32 mm tire. Before the GP5000TL, I never thought about a 32mm tire on a race bike... but this one it is a very fast and comfortable, even the durability for long distance would improve a bit.

i have schwable g one speeds in 30 mounted and the fit fine, as to the H462a 28's

It should also be noted what year V20 frame we’re talking about because my new dark grey frame has different style bridges than my red frame.

thanks. its a good bike. faster than i can ride it. that is a bench in my basement. we did spend a lit of time making that darn thing so it has to be multi purpose LOL. current version of the bike looks a little different, as i change and test change and test. current experiments surround seat angle rings and cassette choices, and playing with the headrest bar.

Another possible option is to go with a wider rim that will reduce the height of the tire.
I had a Maxis Refuse 700 x 32 tire mounted on a HED Belgium Plus rim (disk brake) and I rode it until it was worn out (rear tire on a 2015 V20).
Clearance between tire and brake bridge was maybe 2mm. Rather tight and I had to scrape the mud off more than once, but it worked.
Maybe you could find a local bike shop that has something similar to try before buying something.
To clarify: I did not use it on the front wheel because it did contact the top of the fork.

Thanks for your help
I use, the Boyd 60mm Wheels. which has 19mm internal width. At the moment I keep the GP5000-28 which runs smooth and fast.
In the next journey, I will have a some gravel sections and bad roads, 32mm tires would have been a good option
