Sebring, Florida—home to the legendary race track where Steve McQueen once tore through corners in his Porsche 908— hosted its most grueling endurance event: the 24 Hours of Sebring. A few miles east of this track we witnessed Bike Sebring 24 the premier outdoor ultra-cycling race on the East Coast, this event draws some of the best endurance cyclists in the world. This year, the Cruzbike Virtual Race Team (CVRT) showed up in force to test their mettle racing outside.
Representing CVRT were High Speeders Laura, Otto, John, Jim, and Larry. Supporting them in the pits were more High Speeders, Ken and Maria, ensuring the team had everything they needed for success. Jim and Larry entered the 12-hour team category, while Laura, John, and Otto tackled the marquee 24-hour non-drafting event. What followed was nothing short of a storybook performance.
Jim and Larry dominated their field, covering an incredible 257 miles to take first place in the 12-hour team event. The rest of the Cruzbike racers were left to complete 12 more hours—the grueling 24-hour solo non-drafting race.
Laura put on a performance for the ages; pushing herself through perfect weather and the long, dark night. She racked up a staggering 417 miles. That effort secured her the win in her category, 2nd place among all women, and an impressive 12th overall against the entire field. More importantly, she earned something every ultra-rider dreams of: an official qualification for Race Across America (RAAM).
Not to be outdone, John delivered an equally stellar ride, winning his category with an astounding 421 miles. His effort landed him in the top ten overall at 9th place and, like Laura, earned him a coveted RAAM qualification.
Then there was Otto. Known for his powerful pulls on Zwift. This time he unleashed his full potential on the open road. Otto won his category with a jaw-dropping 469 miles, securing an overall 3rd place podium finish in the race and yet another RAAM qualification for CVRT.
Sebring proved that the Cruzbike Virtual Race Team isn’t just about online racing—they’re a force to be reckoned with in real-world endurance cycling. But no rest for the wicked—Low Drag and High Speed will be back at it Tuesday and Thursday night.
