This is not cruzbike related, but I thought it interresting. Especially relating to loaded touring. This was posted by a French cyclo tourist/blogger passing through Kenya (My Country). His loaded folding AZUb trike frame failed while on the highway. Pretty scary.

He was extremely lucky that it happened near a city on a road where he quickly got help. If it had happened somewhere far from civilization, then he would have had a more serious problem. The reaction of people to a tourist like that is very nice – everyone greets him. It's great that most people try to chat with him in English.

@ak-tux , how do you ride on such roads every day? They look very dangerous.

We are used to it. Our reflexes and awareness has been sharpened. However that was a major highway. A very busy one.
We also have some minor roads that are a bit more deserted and not as bad.

Do you have a Garmin Varia? It's a game changer. I've been using the Varia since 2022, and now I can't imagine riding without it. I don’t use mirrors on my upright bike – the Varia is my rearview. I only leave it behind when riding in the city where there are bike lanes, as it's unnecessary. Outside the city – always.

No, but maybe one day.
