Don't Snicker at a Vendetta

I don't normally chase DF riders; not really fair to race someone that doesn't know there is a race happening, and I ride solo and they ride pace lines, apples and oranges. But this guy actually laughed at the bike while I was at the rest stop and since I had 60 miles in my legs already I figured it was fair to show him why you don't snicker at a Cruzbike Vendetta; nor its engine.

Very little equipment
Rideye front facing camera large capacity.
Fly6 rear facing camera.

The reset is just a work flow on the Mac

Convert AVI's from FLY6 camera to MP4 using video monkey. (because it's free.)
Combine time segments (MP4 and MOV) in QuickTime pro (because it's really easy)
If doing Picture in Picture use iMovie to time sync; create picture in picture.
Crop out the MBB Feet from the video in iMovie
Add any "titles" and "transistions" in iMovie; again because it's easy.
Export to MP4
pull FIT file from Garmin connect.
Use VirbEdit (because it's free) to combine the FIT into video, as the gauges. VirbEdit was just updated providing those new graphs at the top. It's a great update.
Export to MP4 to create file file.
If I want just a "snippet" like this one; then use QuickTime Pro to extract.

While it doesn't sound like it, the process is rather easy; only the conversion of the MOV and AVI's into MP4 for editing is time consuming and that's just CPU time.

The only two paid software tools are QT Pro $20 from like 10 years ago; and iMovie $10.

The one above is just an extract from a vidoe I'm entering int he Cyclopes contest....

I'm still amazed at DF rider's ignorance of recumbents and how fast they actually are. Yes, you can have a frame built with the latest and greatest in Carbon Fibre, a geometry that's really 'aggressive' and will 'send every watt you produce to the rear wheel'. But you cannot change the drag co-efficient or Newtons first law - which of course becomes more pertinent the quicker you go.

Nice video.

It's not always about ignorance.
The dominant bicycling fraternity/tribe on the road is the UCI-legal race bike.
Vendettas in particular are a very, very tiny minority.
The facts that he laughed and let you 'win' matters to no one... because
he has a winner in his legal bike.
Except, we all know how great it feels to win on the road, so, congratulations,
bitchen' video and keep up the good work!

Nice ride Bob. It looked like he gave up at the end, when he knew "there's no way I'm going to shake this guy"!

Nice video work too!

I like the sudden "I have to stretch my neck; I wasn't really interested" maneuver. I'm pretty sure I've done similar in the past
Mmm hmm - or "this guys catching me, I'm suddenly thirsty, I need to reach down grab my water bottle, sit up straight and drink now, so he doesn't think I was really trying".

Something similar happened to me today, only it was two guys that passed me while I was stopped (but no snicker that I know of). I took off and caught them in a few hundred meters. They were going a respectable 20-21 mph so I passed them at about 24-25 mph (on a perhaps 1% downgrade). In my case, the lead guy took off after me so I cranked it up to just shy of 30 mph. After a few hundred meters at this speed he dropped off, either because he couldn't keep up or because he was losing his buddy. Anyway we shortly came to a small village and something was going on with lots of cars and people scattered about so I had to slow down. Going out of town I didn't have the stamina to take it back up to 25+ mph so I rode along at about 20 mph and they eventually passed me. As they did the second guy said that bike is really fast. I followed them to the next stop, where we went different ways. In any case the second guy was right, the Vendetta really is fast. Unfortunately, my engine tires quickly. :( I have to find more time to ride so I can build up my stamina. Here's a photo from today's ride.

The VerbEdit generates the graphics from your Garmin download? Do I understand this correctly? That's pretty cool since it is synced.

Larry you can come with Bent Aero, that way there will be someone who tires maybe almost as quickly as I. He and I can ride together, waiting for you to lap us every once in a while ! :D

Admittedly this is on my S30, but I've had a couple of hundred people tell me "Nice Bike!" so far on the US East Coast tour I've been on.
Just today, I counted 4 school buses full of kids, one garage mechanic "Now, thats the way to do it!", one traffic cop, two DF riders, and about 6 pedestrians.

I had a single rider do something like a scoff while on one of the river trails near Philadelphia.
I was into mile ~65 and 4000 ft of climbing while carrying my luggage without having breakfast or lunch (or snacks) and was tired, but decided to turn the tap on and see what I had left.
It wasn't much, but I did manage to pass him after staying on his wheel for a minute, and then did a steady acceleration up to ~24 over the course of another minute or so.
He did attempt to stay on my wheel, but failed.
Didn't get any video or anything, but it was quite satisfying.

Given that my best (i.e. fastest) day so far was ~18.7 mph over 70.5 miles (over mostly flat terrain but with bad asphalt), I can confidently echo that the Silvio S30 is fast too :)
IIRC, the wattage average for that day was about 144. Not my fastest segment, but certainly my fastest day.

Ignore the water segment (that was the ferry, and then finding the campsite for the night).
