It's good to be out here in dry ass CA. I'll be avoiding any high quantity road miles this week an account of a severe case of laziness I hope to cultivate through the next 3 days. In fact I haven't ridden a single mile all week which makes me feel a bit guilty when thinking about you poor east coast saps. :p

To all those riding long miles over the US Holiday week; role safe roll fast. And for those of us with the annual 100% forecast of rain; do a few extra for us.
Likewise! We will be heading into triple digits in the next days ahead. What happened to spring, the nice pleasent 70's-ish? (Wow apple and its word changing is unbelievable, it took me four attempts to do a "ish".

Didn't ride all week until jumping on the mtb with a few friends today. Super fast pace right out of the gate up a hill then once at the top I got one of those massive head rushes from the sudden stop to wait for my other friend to catch up. Next thing I know is I'm waking up to a couple freaked out friends saying I went into a seizure and was out for over a mino_O. Well hell only 1 mile in and it's already a crazy day on the trails. Finished up the ride dialing back the pace from all out race to casual fun without any further issues. I guess I am long overdue for a physical so now I've got that to look forward to

Had I been solo I'd never would have push up that hill so hard in the first place or had the sudden stop to wait at the top dropping my blood pressure to something too low. If my friends weren't there to tell me how long I was out I wouldn't have thought much of it because when I came to I was feeling great. Maybe they'll put me on the treadmill with a million wires and I can finally get my VO2 max measured :D

Rode again today on the road with the group but on my mtb since both my road bike options are at the shop for the weekend. Managed to push the pace of the group as best I could and managed to get near my max HR several times along the way. I did make sure to never suddenly drop my effort to zero so I felt no ill effects from yesterday. I really think it was just a bunch of odd things lining up perfectly to cause the sudden blackout. I should have never taken the whole week off but now that I'm rolling again I'll keep a close eye on myself leading into the 8hr mtb race next weekend, I hope I can get a physical done before then. I looked very closely at my HR data surrounding the few minutes before and after blacking out and nothing is amiss. I'll be trying to keep a steady pace this week and sticking to riding with others to be safe.

Glad you survived your "strange" episode. Will be curious what happens after they "wire" you up.
Make sure to get some good pictures!
