Guru-me-not
Here's my take on FCN calculator for Cruzbikes:
2 = V20: comparable to best road bikes regardless of shaved legs, recumbent puts you in a category where you are looked at sideways regardless of shaved legs, category applies because you have the peak of innovation, engineering, etc. and are definitely in the need-for-speed equipment category,
4 = S40: you are still way up there but there is a concession to comfort in the midst of your need-for-speed and you definitely have the top of the heap product too but not likely to have mud guards yet
6 = QX100: self explanatory - this is the do everything touring, commuting, mud guard, pannier, any kind of tire, you likely either commute, tour, or intend(ed) to do one of the later
8 = T50:
9? = V2K/Sofrider: Would be same as T50 but the age and no longer in production nature of the bike bring it down
10? = Conversion kit: Once you get to Q and lower componentry and build starts to impact where to slot you in. Eg. My conversion kit from Hamish Barker with almost entirely aged Shimano XT / XTR components is going to be significantly lighter and better performing than a conversion built up from a Canadian Tire or Walmart boat-anchor-bike so I would rank my conversion kit near the top of the conversion range at 7, maybe 6 but I would put a basic or older Sofrider more towards 10 for a starting point.
Adjusters for recumbent riders:
Clothing
0 = Lycra / Team Kit / TDF Jersey (not even sure what this means)
+1 = Non-Cycling/Baggies
+3 = None: Just say "no". No-one needs points that badly
Baggage
-1 = carbon race bucket [carbon fibre race case]
0 = Nothing
+1 = Panniers
Head Gear
-1 = Face shieldAero helmet / Giro Air Attack
Miscellaneous
-1 = Q-ring / gold chain / tubeless tires (other than in regions where absolutely necessary), etc.
-1 = you ride one in a higher category often
0 = Beards are "in" this year in Canada (more's the pity). (If you self identify as female and sport a beard that is visible from 20 feet away you get the +3 same as clothing=none.)
+1 = you ride all year round on the same bicycle (in a place that winter weather matters, i.e. snow, ice, cold)
+1 = Homemade (and it shows) for any adjustment (or enough to cancel any "improvement")
-1 ? = Homemade for whole bike (you probably have more miles than most, are an engineer or similar, or are too cheap (I am pointing at myself here) to shell out the big bucks)
-1 = frame kit built up yourself?
Let the discussion ensue. Cheers,
