Front Derailer Installation

Can someone please post some pictures of how the proper way a SRAM Force Front Derailer should be routed and mounted on the cabling?

My LBS apparently could not understand how to properly route the FD Cable and resorted to taping the cable to the Main Boom and bypassing the cable installation point just below the Main Boom clamp.

Also, am I supposed to have a quick release clamp on the Main Boom clamp so that I can readjust the length for another rider on a Vendetta? I know that that feature is used on other models.

I figured that it wasn't the case with a Vendetta maybe.

I can't see your pictures Eric!

I have tried to follow your build since I ordered the V'tch but I have never been able to see your pictures.

Are you on Facebook?

It's amazing to me how

It's amazing to me how determined bike shops are to get this wrong, since it seems both very simple and clearly laid out in the instructions. We've seen some wacky pictures where bike shops added a lot of unnecessary hardware. My local bike shop tuned my font derailleur perfectly, then for good measure added on a cable tie that prevented downshifting.

I guess this may be why the cable routing on the new Silvio is different, more complex but maybe more bike shop friendly? It also looks like the new Silvio design allows the TFT length to be changed without retuning the FD.

Yep, you spotted it.

Pair the FD housing with the front brake housing, let it follow down towards the front brake, then let it go forward to the cable stopper on the FD stalk. This will create a downward arch of the housing will give around 50mm adjustment on the boom clamp (HBAR to CRANK) distance. So the method is:

1) measure knee height off floor when sitting on a chair.
2) add crank length
3) add knee-bar clearance
4) set the HBAR to CRANK to be this distance

5) set the slider clamp to be about 320mm forward of the handlebar.

Then cable up the bike.

Adjustments: Initially get the crank distance right by adjusting AT THE SLIDER. Later, do small adjustments at either clamp as required, without upsetting any cable adjustments.

This will ensure you have full reach on the handlebars and that you can cable the bike before any personal fittings. This method allows us to offer full build bikes, with the confidence we will have the cabling perfect for the rider's size.
