Front wheel skewer springs

Quick question. At about 3:09 in this clip
it says that the skewer springs are "not needed" on the front wheel of Cruzbikes. Does that mean that they should not be used, or just that it's optional? I bought my S30 gently used, and it came to me with springs on both the front and rear skewers.

On a DF, the springs hold the skewer away from the dropouts making it easier to remove the wheel by just loosening the skewer. To remove the drive wheel on your S30 you will have to fully remove the skewer. Therefore the springs serve no purpose and will just get in the way when changing tires, but won't cause any other problem if you keep them there.

On your non-drive wheel, the skewer springs are useful in popping that wheel off.

No springs needed on the front - if anything they can get all jammed in there between the stay and the fork - better to just toss them. On the competes I no longer have them included.
