Happy and overwhelmed New Silvio Owner

Happy Monday to EVERYONE.. (after Thanksgiving weekend 2014).

I am not so sure about the "bragging part". I see this is more like sharing some wonderful news with folks who share similar passions etc.

I am overwhelmed in that everything about this is exciting and new. LOTS to learn for sure.

It was a grand Thanksgiving for me, as I was able to purchase an almost new Silvio 2.0. I do not think he even pulled the brake levers. It even has Rolf Prima Vigor Wheels! This took place on "black Friday".... Imagine that! I had always promised my self to not get involved in such commercialism, but that was the only day I could intercept the seller as he was driving from Michigan to Arizona.

After driving for 15 hours ( round trip), I spent Saturday and Sunday, checking it over, Adjusting it to fit me etc.

I finally got up the nerve to take it where I could start the learning process. I had previously ridden at 1.5. I knew the 2.0 would be different & it was. I did struggle for a few minutes, but finally got it to move under pedal power. I think that one has to make a COMMITMENT to learn this new MBB stuff.

After about 30 minutes, I decided to put some power in. I was amazed how fast it accelerated and the velocity attained! The feel of the bike changed and it is trying to teach you what it wants in order for things to be smooth. Not easy to do. I can see this will take time. I need to let my body get used to the 27 degree lean.

Overall I am very pleased with the decision to purchase a Silvio 2.0. I actually went through many other bents to arrive here. Pretty much all form factors. I do not know if I will keep the GRR ( lots of fond memories and miles). I do know the GRR won't see the roads for quite a while. THE SILVIO is fast and fun. Also challenging but manageable. I would have bought one sooner save for the negative comments on the net. Like I said, one must make a commitment. That is a good thing.

IT IS WORTH IT!

DO NOT BE AFFRAID!

I want to thank each and every one of you that have taken the time to post. Your knowledge makes this happen...this wonderful thing called MBB recumbents. MY life, I think, will be forever changed for the good!!!!

I have lots of questions, but for now this is all the time I have.

Congrats on your new bike.

Congrats on your new bike. Just one thing though.
It isn't real until you show us some pictures

I am glad I gave Vendetta a go. It is a real fun bike to ride and fast too (faster than my M5 carbon mid racer).

Get it got it good.

And there we have the post of the month and it is only Dec 1st.

The good news is it only gets better from here. Congratulations, I'd offer you some kool-aid but I see you're already on your second cup. 15 hours, now that's determination; after 15 hours on the bike; you'll be touting MBB, man it's so easy.

 Congrats, you are no longer

Congrats, you are no longer a Wannabe!

"I would have bought one sooner save for the negative comments on the net."

Umm... May I ask what those negative comments are? You've piqued my curiosity.

I wish...

I wish I could say I have been riding alot... but sadly i have not. I have to take the bike some 6 miles to go for a ride due to where I live. Work still has to come first. Then there is the weather. I have been working on it, affixing things like water bottles, and small storage bags etc. ..with any spare moments. I even sit on it and spin for a few minutes in the trainer. But 12 + hour days are grueling!

All that being said, I know I will have more time in the near future. They should be hiring another tech or two. I cover most of the state of Louisiana fixing ATM's and smart bank vaults. That Stuff has to work, down time is not an option.

I still come here when ever I get a chance and read. Heck, I could sell the TV and not miss it....LOL

I will be riding this weekend (after the rain is gone) and taking pics. Hopefully I can figure out how to post them here.

A big BIG thank you to all of the kind and thoughtful comments.

My bike is essentially new. The first owner said he never pedaled it. He was 81 and I think he bit off more than he could chew. A great guy and super nice.... but the silvio may have intimidated him. He even rode 80 miles on his 80th birthday on a DF precipice of torture. I could not do that ever! It just hurt to much.
