Help ID'ing slider

I have a box of v20 parts and thought I had 2 straight sliders, but I don't think I do. In the picture the longer slider is 20.5", the shorter 16.5". Anyone know what the short slider is for? It does not have the water bottle bosses.

For one batch a long while ago we had a slightly shorter slider - it proved to be too short for very tall riders, so the next one was lengthened to the lower one - and we added the bosses at that time as well.
