hitting thigh on top of v brake?

I built up a Sofrider with avid SD7 brakes. The most comfortable riding position for me is way forward (despite a 44 x seam). This way my knees clear the handle bars, but now my leg clips the top of the v brake. Anyone else run into this? I may try a disk brake 'but that seems like overkill.

Might be worth getting someone to take a side view picture of you as you ride along. Maybe someone may have a suggestion. For example someone posted a picture of themselves on here and John Tolhurst noticed straightaway that their seat bracket was fitted back to front! :)

Is it the caliper itself, or the "lead tube" (sometimes called a "noodle") that connects the caliper to the cable housing? Those are available with tighter curves to tuck the cable in closer to the head tube...
