holder for Varia RTL515

Hi,
Occasionally I ride on some very rough roads and had lost my Varia RTL 515. Second one, I was lucky enough to recover it. Came up with a very crude holder(way too many nuts/bolts.washers) for the light. If I do an updated version it will be a 3D printed part......and much better looking. :)
Cheers!

Hi,
No 3d printing for the second version of the RTL 515 holder. Much sleeker appearance without bolts/washers.

Thanks for that!

I have the same light/radar, and I am concerned about it coming off the mount to my tail box. I was just curious what was the failure mode when it came off? Did it untwist and come out of the mount? Or did a tab break off or some sort of part failure. I wish Garmin provided a teather mount for it!!

I might look at that. Did you work out if it untwisted in the mount or there was some part failure that caused it to come off?

I was using the stock rubber band and the rubber v block. Vibration would somehow dislodge the rubber band from the grove in the holder. Light and mount would then fall off. Have not had a failure with the locking mechanism in the mount. This seems to be ok so far.

Great! I dissasmbled the stock mount and used the bolts to attach it to my tail box including some loctite. It is good to hear the light is secure in the mount itself. Mine should be OK... but I may look into a tether anyway!
