Recumbent Riders Invited to “Race” CVRT on Zwift—Now Accepting E-Bikes, Recliners, and Light Snacks

Cochran Gazette — April 7, 2025

In an unprecedented move to revive the sleepy remains of recumbent racing culture, the Cruzbike Virtual Race Team (CVRT) has extended an invitation to fellow laid-back pedal enthusiasts: join us in the WTRL Team Time Trial—on your e-bike, with your feet up, possibly while watching Matlock reruns. “Look, we get it,” said Home-Boy Hardy, CVRT spokesperson while sipping an electrolyte smoothie from a La-Z-Boy. “You used to be fast. You had dreams. But now your drivetrain’s dusty and your motivation’s parked next to it. So we thought: why not make racing more... chill?”

The CVRT promises no strenuous activity, mandatory cooldown playlists featuring Lawrence Welk, and Zwift-friendly virtual e-bikes tuned for ‘maximum vibes.’ Riders are encouraged to pedal as much or as little as they feel—an intern will generate artificial watts for any participant whose heart rate exceeds 80 bpm. We anticipate the most popular feature of the race to be the 20 minute stop for mid-race snacks. “If you can sit in a reclined position and occasionally gesture at pedals, you’re overqualified,” said Home-Boy. “Come join us. Let’s show the world that racing can be low-impact, calorie-gaining, and heavily motor-assisted.” The event is expected to be a hit among recumbent bike fans and those who want to participate in the virtual racing community without the usual intensity. CVRT members are already prepping their recliners and testing out snack holder attachments for optimal convenience during the race. So, if you’re looking for a race where the only thing that’s getting a workout is your snack hand, this is the perfect event for you.
