Insta360 Camera in "Following Mode" with Invisible Selfie Stick

Hello, folks; I'm back from Asia. While I was in Japan, I bought one of those Insta360 X5 cameras AND the "invisible" selfie stick, imagining that I would be able to strap it to my Q45's back rack and get some "following drone" type shots while I'm riding around. I tried it out this morning and it worked pretty well, have a look:
. More to come on my Instagram (@tophatfiddle) as I get better at it, heh!

Glad you are enjoying the X5--there is a lot that can be done with it--of course the only limit is how you are willing to mount it. I tried off the bottom bracket but did not care for the crotch cam effect. I have been using a mount on the handlebar with about a 9 inch stick to get some perspective--works, but I hate the wonky look of the camera on the bars--but, here. is a recent video with that mount.

Is the speed stat embedded from the camera itself?
I don't really know the camera well enough to tell yet. I THINK you need an additional doodad of some sort to make it show GPS in the camera frame, but I also see stuff on the internet where people are saying that you can make GPS data show without the doodad, but you have to do a bunch of fiddling around. I'd rather buy the doodad, if it actually does do the job without a bunch of fiddling around....

Today I learned the Insta360 mobile editing software can sync with Garmin data, but I don’t know how easy it is to syncronize the data. I’ll have to give it a try.
According to Cycliq their desktop app pulls the data from Strava.
I had been using Garmin’s VIRB Edit, but recent OS update made the syncing the data difficult / impossible.
Here’s a good example.
I tried Telemetry Overlay. It works well, but the features aren’t as good.

Matthew, I found syncing the fit/gpx data on Garmin Virb Video Editor a nuisance as well. First I have to splice all the videos together in the editor and export it. Reupload it as a whole file into the editor, and then grab the gpx file from Strava to convert it on "AllTrails" and upload it to the editor. It would be nice if the camera could contain that data natively to cut out a few steps, but there is only so much Arakawa viewers wanna see.

Nice video and a good viewing perspective I thought.
very impressed by the ‘brim’ / hat rim on your helmet. Is that commercially available, or is it something you put together? How do you get it to stay attached?

Thanks! That's the "Da Brim" helmet cover sold by the "Da Brim" people--I forget the website, but you could Google it. I like it, BUT it does not stay on the helmet if you put it on they way the "Da Brim" people say to in the directions and cinch the straps up. I had to epoxy it on with two-part epoxy, which of course means that it's not coming off. But that's okay with me.

Thanks for that - I’ll have a search - plenty of sun down here in Aus.

Hmm, I haven’t had a problem with it staying on, even going downhill (although I’ve had a sensation of the flying nun several times ;).
