Is the seat extremely upright on the Silvio?

I am in the process of purchasing a Silvio. I am used to riding at about 30-35 degrees. It says on the website 45 degrees for the Silvio, but pictures make it look far more reclined. It looks as reclined as my Bacchetta Aero, as it looks like the 45 degrees is not measured at horizontal with the ground, but instead the bike frame. I had a lot of problems with the Lightning P38 as the seat was too upright for me.

thanks for your help!

Yes - it's 45%

- Yes, it's 45% which is rather upright, depending what you are used to. The Softrider and Quest are adjustable, so the seat could be more reclined. And the Vendetta is way reclined.

I am so excited I cannot

I am so excited I cannot stand myself! I have a feeling I will be a huge fan of this bike. Maria is my hero, so I have to dig in and ride this baby.

In Arizona, finding a flat area is going to be challenging! If you have any tips on set up, let me know. It looks pretty straight forward.

Man o man, 51 and living the dream!

Tips -

- thebean - tips: if you're in mountainous country (Arizona), you will need to decide on the gear range you will need. Because, of course, that will determine the group set you will need to buy. If you're a powerful climber you can use a "compact double" (50/34 up front). I'm not so powerful so I'm using a triple 53/39/25 (GainRatio 1.7 up to 8.45)(speeds 4.5mpg to 35+ mph). Group sets can get expensive, so get the right one (for you) the first time! And if it were me, I would get the best quality I could afford, this bike is built to last and last, so don't skimp!

Hi Randy,
Where did you get/

Hi Randy,

Where did you get/ what is your crankset? (How did you get 53/39/25)? Which front derailleur do you use?

Thanks,
Charles

p.s. @TheBean, I highly concur with getting a nice wide crankset. I run 48/38/22 on my Sofrider.

Crankset

- Charles, the crankset is a Bontreger 175mm. Those chainring sizes are rotor q-rings. I use a shimano ultegra FD, it's not up to the capacity I need, but I have gotten it to work. Very hard to find large capacity FD's these days. I'm not so fortunate on the wife's softrider: I'm going to use 52/39/26 for her. But I will have to cut and extend the FD (shimano 105) for it to not drag when on the 26 granny. Unless I can find a large capacity FD ( everyone take notice! I need this! )
