Ivan’s V20c Touring, Luggage, Aeroe Spider, Restrap Bikepacking Bags

I am planning a tour in Finland next year and wanted to carry my tent, sleep system and gear on my V20c. I already have Restrap bags for my gravel bike. I decided to adapt the Aeroe Spider for my V20c.


I am pleased with the results and the first test ride today. 2 x 12L dry bags plus other bags gives me about 30L space in these photos. The dry bags are prob about 80% full capacity in these pics.



Cruzbike Moose Pack and a Restrap frame bag 3.5L below it. I like how the size and curvature of the Restrap bag suits the V20c. An extension strap to go around the frame and under the seat was needed.



Under the boom I placed my Restrap top tube bag 0.8L



I mounted my two Restrap feed bags to the Topeak Cage Mount clamps that hold my water bottle cages behind the headrest. I can reach into these bags while I ride. A medium sized saddle bag is also shown here there.



Now onto the main course. The Aeroe Spider is designed to fit on rear chain stays and the V20c is much narrower. I purchased some carbon tubes diameter 20mm and aluminium connectors for drone landing gear so I could build a “U shaped bar” with the width I needed.



Notice that the cradles are bolted directly to the plastic mounts like the Aeroe Spider handlebar pack except turned 90 deg. This places it nicely, low and stable. If you already have an Aeroe Spider rear rack you can just change the mounting method to this pic.

However if you were starting from scratch, consider buying 2x Aeroe Spider handlebar bar cradles and join them using your own 20mm alloy or carbon tube.

Note that Aeroe Spider does sell a front rack system and that alloy tube will be the recorrect width. However I think that may not be long enough to clear the rear tire because it’s designed to sit higher up the front fork of a regular bike.



The weight of the entire rack with 2 cradles and straps will be about 1kg. Without dry bags of course.



Currently the dry bags are 1cm from the V20c seat and don’t touch my shoulders. Different bags will have different clearances of course. I will moved mine 2-3cm lower down the stays so when I fill the bags more they won’t touch my shoulders.



Further options are moving my large water bottles to the under-seat position and mounting my Restrap Bar Pack 10L (handlebar back) behind my headrest instead.

Now the V20c is not only (one of) the fastest bikes, it is also the fastest road tourer!

Looks great. I would also be interested in your packing list, including the details of your sleep setup (which tent, sleeping bag, etc.), as this is helpful knowledge for lightweight touring setups.

On my trip through Norway on my V20 I had 28-622 tires, and this limited me to primary roads in Norway and Sweden, as the secondary roads there are mostly unpaved and not fun to ride with narrow tires. And the primary roads can be pretty busy with cars and RVs. But depending on where you go, this may be different in Finland. Do you already have a route?

In Finland I will be on paved secondary roads. 3 days from Helsinki to the archipelago islands then spend most of the time around there and Aland islands. These involve ferry hopping and bridges, and is popular with road cyclists. Final night is an overnight ferry 9 hours back to Helsinki! Here’s my AI generated map that I am still working on. It’s got inaccuracies but that’s the rough idea. I wanted easy and relaxing so this is flatter than Norway!



Sleep system: Thermarest NeoAir Uberlite with a generic goose down sleeping bag. I have used ultralight tents from NatureHike and 3F UL purchased from AliExpress. Currently I will be trying one that is a hybrid between single and double-wall so very quick to setup and take down but will hopefully be okay with condensation.
