I would like to encourage anyone who is planning on riding in at least one distance event (or would like to attempt ANY record) this year to join the Ultra Marathon Cycling Association (UMCA)
This will not only help the Cruzbike by having more riders listed in the results, but it will also help people see more recumbent in the mix.
This Grace period (https://www.ultracycling.com/2017/02/22/grace-period-for-lapsed-or-new-members/) is also an excellent way for any of you who participated in Sebring to have this mileage count for a one of the "challenges". (Generally you cannot join after an event - just before)
And don't think because you did not ride some extreme mileage that you may not still win a division.
They are bicycle and age based and some have low attendance.
The Ultra-Cup (which is one of the 2 premier challenges is the average speed of only races: 12-hour, 6-hour, and Century (and one of them can be a record attempt.) There are also many other challenges that you are automatically entered into and listed in the results. Most of them require a minimum of 3 events.
The cost to join UMCA is only $35 for the year.
The membership will also give you access to many article on distance riding and all past magazine issues.
Go here: https://www.ultracycling.com/join/
Jim and I are on the Board of Directors also, so if you have any questions, let us know.
Thanks,
Larry
