Decent job Doug. Though maybe you could make the screws that hold the bracket to the swinging arm, a bit longer and fit locknuts and washers to make sure that nothing works loose?

They're set in red Loctite, so I think they'll stay put for the short term...

I'll use this one long enough to shake out the details and then make another one, maybe even a pretty one. I need to relieve the lower section of the adapter to let the QR run out to the end of the dropout, too.

SInce it's the first part I made on the machine, I'm just happy I didn't kill myself and that the part fits!

I think it looks very well made. That seems as only a minor adjustment on your part for the QR.
Well done.

I say it was a good first attempt. Like you say, you didn't lose any fingers, no shavings in the eye.... You is a machinist!

Heh, I used the blue on that misdrilled hole since I decided I didn't want to play with a torch to get it off. It is like a rock. I'll have to get my drill out to take it off, but that is fine.

Doug,
That are good looking bracket!
Is the disc a 203mm.
Would the bracket be the same for a 160mm disc, with its different adaptor?
Have you got any finished dimensions so I can get a friend's friend to machine one up for Softrider V2

Regards

Hi Slim and JBURG, thanks for the kind words.

The V2 is a little different, and a little easier. On the V1, the dropout is bent part way up and requires you to relieve the mounting block to account for it (actually, my bike is a prototype; the V1 may not be tweaked like mine was) Also, the V1 dropout spacing is 135mm, where the V2 is 100mm, so thinner stock can be used.

I recently built an evaluation V2 that included rear discs:

This fits to the outside of the dropout and since there's no offset angle, it's easier to make.

Best,

Oh...

The discs are 160mm front and rear. I used a Magura 203mm mount on the V1 because it allowed me to reduce the height of the adapter block.

The V2 is also 160mm front and rear, but the adapter block is made to the ISO/Universal caliper mounting pattern.
