Jeremy,

Glad you mentioned about the bolts being too long, no wonder I was stumped at the way the bb clamp bolts tighten. even though my bb clamps did not shift, tightening both sides felt uneven.

I feel like we're beta testers for this bike ironing out hardware bugs....

There should be a sticky with the title "silvio 2.0 hardware bugs report and possible solutions..."

I dont mind these bugs and oversights too much because I like problem solving as I built a conversion before, but to those who just wanna build it and follow the instructions, this could really be frustrating.

Well FWIW John was the one

Well FWIW John was the one who suggested the possibility of the bolts bottoming out to me over e-mail. I e-mailed John and Doug many times during my build :D

I think sometimes there is

I think sometimes there is some debris still in the hole from having the thread cut. Those holes go all the way through, I believe.

Pardon my blurry photo

Pardon my blurry photo evidence, but I don't think the bolt holes do go all the way through:

Ah ha! The bolt exit hole on

Ah ha! The bolt exit hole on yours has been welded over, my original prototype sample, no. Thanks for the picture.

There is no exit hole on mine

There is no exit hole on mine either (earlier model, just before or around same time as Jeremy's). I used the original Cruzbike bolts - same as Jeremy's pics - and don't seem to have a problem. Makes sense if there is debris in one hole...

On the Vendetta, the bladed

On the Vendetta, the bladed chainstays allow clearance for the BB ring clamp bolt holes to be drilled and threaded all of the way through. Although the Silvio chainstays are even more bladed in a sense than the Vendetta, the "blades" are perpendicular to the ring clamps which result in occluding the bolt hole path so it can't be bored all the way through.

Nope, redact that, on the Vendetta they get closer to being through holes but not quite.

Re: ring clamp bolts

Jeremy, I had the same problem with the ring clamp bolts being a tiny bit too long.
The way I found this out was when I happened to accidentally shear the head off one of the bolts when I was tightning down the clamp.
I was able to spread the clamp enough to get a small Vise Grips in the space and attach to the bolt.
I noticed that the bolt was very tight. It took a bit of force to loosen it as it had bottomed out in the hole.
Once I broke it loose it backed out easily and I replaced both bolts with ones that were just a bit shorter.

"Those bags are designed for a high racer. Very little drag. http://www.fastbacksystem.com/page14/page14.html
The weight of the water keeps them from being put higher. I'm not really happy with them on the Silvio due to the interference with the brake. I have ordered a Showers Pass Veleau: http://www.showerspass.com/about-veleau"

I am at the stage now of trying to figure out a commuting bag set-up as well as a water bladder system. I have an older CamelBak unbottle that I use on my trike and Easy Racer but not real certain I can make it work for my Silvio.

Two questions:

1) Regarding your fastbacksystem...if you were running disc brakes would this system work better? I have my bike set-up with discs so this just might work for me.

2) I'm curious how the Showers Pass has worked out? It looks like a nice set-up.

Thanks.

The Fastback bags did not

The Fastback bags did not touch the brakes, so no problem. The Showerspass is great. A lot less storage, but I added a small bag to store an extra tube.
