In thought; expanding the paradigm of traversity
For the last 4 days , no riding because of an advent doing ACIM. Lots of interest into this. I am one of those that believes if you don't observe then the universe ((my) Universe freezes... It just stops). So coming back from that sort of reality into one of a Cruzbike reality was very grounding. Just before leaving I fitted the new fat inner tube in the head rest so I was eager to try that out. I inflated it so it would prop my head up more. It's fantastic. So I have a blast. I stop for a tapa and whilst I was there a whole group of Brits with fancy DF bikes arrive. They saw the Vendetta but they thought I was Spanish. Well I didn't want to race with them so I finished quickly and finished my ride. I got home and Strava said I had two PBs. So that made me feel good then I looked to see the leaderboard for the day to see what the fancy bikes had done. Oddly enough for the day, the leader was a spaniard and I am not sure what bike he had but he was faster than me by a minute.
Then I thought about it... I had to wait for some traffic at a T junction that was on the segment so I guess he only perhaps 40 seconds faster over a 4.7km segment.
The one thing I shouldn't be doing is comparing myself to anyone. On another segment the spaniard didn't do I beat the leaderboard. I had a top speed of 51.3km coming back on the flat with a little wind assistance (11km), so i enjoyed the fat inner tube headrest modification.
And it was a great workout and using the water bottle on the go. However I still sometimes fumble trying to get the bottle back in its holder. I guess some holders are easier for sliding the bottle back behind the headrest?
It's getting hotter here so it's more important to get out earlier. If I lose another 10 lbs what sort of improvements would I see?
I also have been thinking about the aerodynamics of the schlumpf high speed planetary crank or the mountain drive which has less resistance... But being 4 oz heavier probably not a good race option?
