For the last 4 days , no riding because of an advent doing ACIM. Lots of interest into this. I am one of those that believes if you don't observe then the universe ((my) Universe freezes... It just stops). So coming back from that sort of reality into one of a Cruzbike reality was very grounding. Just before leaving I fitted the new fat inner tube in the head rest so I was eager to try that out. I inflated it so it would prop my head up more. It's fantastic. So I have a blast. I stop for a tapa and whilst I was there a whole group of Brits with fancy DF bikes arrive. They saw the Vendetta but they thought I was Spanish. Well I didn't want to race with them so I finished quickly and finished my ride. I got home and Strava said I had two PBs. So that made me feel good then I looked to see the leaderboard for the day to see what the fancy bikes had done. Oddly enough for the day, the leader was a spaniard and I am not sure what bike he had but he was faster than me by a minute.
Then I thought about it... I had to wait for some traffic at a T junction that was on the segment so I guess he only perhaps 40 seconds faster over a 4.7km segment.

The one thing I shouldn't be doing is comparing myself to anyone. On another segment the spaniard didn't do I beat the leaderboard. I had a top speed of 51.3km coming back on the flat with a little wind assistance (11km), so i enjoyed the fat inner tube headrest modification.

And it was a great workout and using the water bottle on the go. However I still sometimes fumble trying to get the bottle back in its holder. I guess some holders are easier for sliding the bottle back behind the headrest?

It's getting hotter here so it's more important to get out earlier. If I lose another 10 lbs what sort of improvements would I see?

I also have been thinking about the aerodynamics of the schlumpf high speed planetary crank or the mountain drive which has less resistance... But being 4 oz heavier probably not a good race option?

Not compatible with the front of the bike because they are square tapper; and yeah you'd feel the weight. They would work on the Q Series just fine.

Some Pics. The old inner tube suffered with deflation as I didn't do a very good job at sealing the ends, so having a small whole inner tube that can be blown up easily is wonderful and it doesn't have to fold so many times, the helmet adjuster doesn't rest so much on your neck either because of the little gap between the air cushions. The size is 3.00-4, 260 x 85mm.

Thanks, David. Where did you find that tube? Is it a Presta or Schrader valve? Do you find it to make your neck sweatier? Is that the 'sock' that comes w the bike?

Sorry for so many questions. I'm pretty happy w my neck rest at present but always on the lookout for a better solution! Thanks

I got the idea from the forum thread "my headrest is better than yours". To be quite frank if I am not having a recovery ride, the helmet Giro Air Attack in the summer here in Spain is too hot. I love the aero capabilities but if I am going on a climb the visor has to come off. At the summit, the sweat pours off me. Not good. Perhaps I should fill the inner tube with water and have a cooling plate linked to my frozen water bottle that's attached to my headrest? The ice in the bottle stays for 2 hours so that might be a creative option.
The sock that I use is the standard headrest sock and the valve is a Schrader valve. All my tyres except this one are presta, so it will be really irritating if I get a puncture.

Furthering this idea of cooling, perhaps it's possible to use the same idea of cooling heat syncs in in desktops with tubes conveying Car coolant liquid and a little aquarium airpump
motor. As you can guess I didn't go out on the bike today and have too many abstract ideas.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
