Larry's Tailbox testing on V20 & Magic

Larry at what point does a tailbox become a fairing ?
Basically when it's primary purpose is to fair the bicycle and not carry supplies and stuff. Even when it does that is cannot be overtly taper to rejoin the airflow "too much. Unfortunately there is no hard and fast rule or dimensions I can point to. Each organization appears to have their own rules - but most are similar to the above statement.
Even upright bicycles have conflicting rules. For instance allow aero helmets, disc wheels, skin suites, different forms of aero bars, etc. Other organization or races do not allow even TT uprights - all very confusing to the masses. :(

Perhaps - I have about a dozen other bottle pods roughed out, but it takes a ton of time to carve out the bottle wholes for them . I will probably eventually test them, but I think I will build my wind tunnel first, as I think that perhaps the slight changes may not be that perceptible due to the route I have.

Wind tunnel sounds awesome! Could you get most of the bottle pod data without calving the bottle holes? As in just make the shape and don't cut any holes and fit bottle and just test that? The bottle seem mostly enclosed anyway so would make little difference?

I did Jason - but as you noted the seat is too large and stuck me farther up in the air than I like to when mounted on the V20 frame - so not as aero for me
The box was too large and did not meet the qualifications to keep the bike in the "unfaired" category. Still a great choice for someone who want a "ton" of room and likes the THor seat. I still have it if anyone is interested in buying it.

Do you think it would be possible to mount the dolphin box on the bike with the stock seat (perhaps with some extra bit of work)? How different is the seat angle between stock seat and Thor seat? I love the angle of the stock seat and don't want to sit more upright, because that tends to put more pressure on my butt and cause pain there on longer rides.
If you still have the dolphin box, could you show a picture holding the box on the bike with the stock seat installed, to see how much of a gap there would be between seat and box?
As @Henri has pointed out in another thread, there are also tailboxes from Novosport to consider (https://www.novosport.de/210/products/boxes). Since I'm also in Germany, I might try to find a dealer who stocks their boxes and try out how they might fit the vendetta. I actually want the box for luggage + speed, and don't care about race regulations, as I want to use this for solo touring.
