Leg Rub on Front Brake

I previously owned a Silvio 2.0, and plan to purchase a V20 when they are back in stock. As I start to think about components, I recall that one issue I had on the Silvio was that my right leg rubbed the side of the front brake when pedaling (was using a typical Shimano ultegra side pull rim brake).

To address this issue on the V20, I had been thinking about getting a front disc brake, but really don't want to go to the trouble (new wheel, etc.). But then I noticed in Ratz's build thread that he is going to use a TriRig Omega X front brake (ie, a center pull front brake with a slimmer profile than a normal rim brake) and that this would help the leg rub issue.

While I am considering ordering this brake, I wondered if anyone else has had this issue and found any steps to resolve. Also, I'd be interested in know if anyone knows of a lower cost center pull rim brake that might work well on the V20 (as the TriRig is fairly expensive). Thanks

I've noticed a little leg rub in that same place on the Vendetta but not enough as yet to change brakes. If it becomes more of a problem, that TriRig may be an option. It's a shame a set can't be split by two people. Or could it, by changing out the mounting bolt? I certainly don't know the answer to that. That would make it a far more affordable option if it was possible.

Kline the TriRig is sold individually so it's really expensive for one. Rear brakes are easy to score on Ebay even though they are sold as pairs normally. I got my Ultegra 6700 rears for $35 each which helped offset the cost of the TriRig units.

Unc99, if you or anyone else can find another center pull for a better price that would be awesome. All the ones I could find were either even more expensive or required a cable stop up near the steam cap or coming up from the brake bolt. That would work but everyone one I found used the triangle of wire to actuate the brake. I figured in most case that wire triable would be worst than the leg interference of the side pull brakes. In the end The TriRig was the only one I could find with the stop integrated to the brake and a straight wire pull. Unfortunately, we are about at least 2 months out before I can road test them and tell you what I think about them. Mechanically they are very nice and at this point I don't regret the purchase I expect them to work well. I was disappointed that that probably would be bad for the rear brake, but my wallet was not unhappy. Historically the Ultegra, Force, and FSA side pull brakes are about the best options people have reported using. I'm sure their are other that people cold give us some photos of that might solve this issue.

I would say that this depends on Your BB height, crank length and foot length. I have BB in higher half of possible positions, 150 mm short cranks and short feets. I touch brake adjust nut by leg only while turning left and not every time.
This may be also Your case with V20, so I would test it with side pull brake first.

Thanks to all for the responses. Ratz, I will be interested to here how the center pull brake works for you when you get up and running. Snilard, that is a good point--it bothered me on the Silvio but the geometry of the V20 is different, so I will probably try my existing brake first.
