In thought; expanding the paradigm of traversity
i have been doing this ketogenic diet now for 10 weeks, I notice surpringly at odd pains in my body. This season I switched to carbon racing shoes and look pedals. I am utilising more power for longer. Each week I try to do one endurance ride of 80km and oddly the part of my body that feels it the most is my left foot.
This is really the reason why I dedicated so much to cycling; a few years ago we did the Camino de Santiago hiking trail (by foot) and that was quite a journey. We only did a week of it and at the end of that week my left foot felt broken by the little toe (ball of the foot). My knees were constantly aching and I gave up the idea of playing tennis but still wanted to be healthy and so opted for cycling.
Now its revelation time. I decided to get my foot looked at by a specialist. A charming old man that was full of smiles. He gave me a good feeling even if he had a very sharp knife in his hands. I didn't feel a thing and it only took him 30 seconds to remove a corn. He said I had quite Flat feet and I should wear the right footwear with supportive arch so that I don't get pain in my knees and lower back. I find it amazing to think I have been carrying that burden for 55 years and now I have relief.
If it wasn't so hot I would do a longer ride but I don't fancy doing the roads around here at night and during the day from 11:30 it's around 40c so I wait for the right conditions. Now I am trying to buy some suitable sandals and just stick to 70km endurance rides dependant on temperature.
I much prefer to be turbo' fanned flying on the V outside than stuck on a trainer so I just love going out for a ride usually at 7 to 7:30.
