Looking to purchase

Looking to purchase a cruzbike. I live in the Chicago area and willing to drive 6 hours to pick it up. please post in this thread if you have one.

Any model at the moment, don't have any stores around Chicago that have any stock to take a test ride. Big investment, want to make sure I like it. Bought a Linear recumbent a few months ago and i like it but it underperforms compared to my much cheaper sunseeker sport. So basically any used cruz bike I would be interested in to purchase to test it out. If anyone would like to take my Linear off my hands we could work out a trade or a reduction in price.

It is down near Houston so you can't take it for a test ride but there is a rare S30 for sale on here. Maybe you can work something out for shipping and packing.

“any model. “ Well the range is large from utilitarian to a time trial machine. If you want to go as fast as possible you might find a sofrider is something you might find misleading. As long as you are ofay with what each variants intent before making a judgment. Of course the utilitarian nature of the adventure range makes them easy to ride learn look around and have fun. Stepping straight on a vendetta is possibly fraught with frustration.......not being able to ride immediately etc. .....possibly......or not given your bent experience.

Thank you all for the enquiries, I really appreciate and love the cruzbike family so far. Now i just need one so i can change my status to actually owning one. Been riding a sunseeker EZ sport and an old iowa class Linear but neither one is able to keep up with some important people i regularly ride with. I have no doubt i have the patience to learn to ride any cruzbike. I am looking for a bike to get up to 100 miles in a day. I am presently able to do between 60 and 70 per day on my sunseeker but want to bring it to another level. My average speed during these trips are between 11 and 15 miles an hour depending on how many hills there are. My goal is to complete 100 miles in 5 hours for a 20mph average. I am in reasonably good shape and have no doubt I can meet this goal with a cruzbike. Right?

That is tough to say since there are so many unknowns, but we will do all we can to help you get the right bike, and advice and tips on setting it up so you can meet that goal. The search button is your friend, but if I may speak for everyone, I don't think anyone here minds re-sharing their wisdom or at the least linking to it elsewhere on this forum. It's always great to read about someone making a goal and then give it a proper go.

Hey Andrew - yes a sub 5-hour Century is definitely within reach - I have actually ridden many sub-4 hour Centuries on my V20.
It is all based on your power-to-weight (W/Kg) ratio and how aero you are on the bike.
You are probably going to need a V20 to accomplish your goals.

I did send you a private message - (not sure if you go it) - I can offer to teach you on the T50, and S40, and then get you going on the V20 at my house in Hilton Head. I have taught lots of people to ride like that, and can do a professional bike fit for you there too to make you as aero as possible.
Please email me directly at larryoslund@gmail.com and we can discuss it further.

Hi Andrew...
I just went throught this search (for the last season)... and finally decided on a V20.
The bike was listed as "new" here on the Forum... because the builder bought two CB frame sets and
built them up with high end components. He decided to keep the S40, and sell the V20.
He had over $5k in the V20 when he got done with it....
It took me a bunch of emails and thread searches to realize that a conventional "test" ride was unlikely
to help me decide to pull the trigger on a CB...
If you check Robert Holler's instructional videos of how to learn to ride a CB... you will see that it's a
well tested formula approach that takes some time and practice.
I have been out riding this V20 now for a couple of weeks and it's taken me that long to get the hang of it.
That being said, I am happier knowing that if I can manage the V20... then, I can probably ride any of the other
CB models. Anyway, that's my story. Oh, and by the way... this thing is fast.
You may want to start with a more "upright" CB... but if you want speed... go for a V20. You will have a learning curve either way.
Best regards.

My 2 cents on this topic is to purchase a new Cruzbike without a preliminary trial ride.
The $ you have invested will be the impetus you need to surmount the learning curve.
A short trial ride, unless supervised by a really experienced instructor, might only lead one to believe a Cruzbike handles really weird compared to their current bike, be it a diamond frame or a 'bent.

At least that's what worked for me when I purchased a new Silvio 2.0 8 years ago and initially struggled to master the FWD MBB platform with a very laid back seat.
During my struggles I thought of Maria Parker winning RAMM and the hardships she must have endured.
That and the thought of giving up and selling the bike at a loss was what kept up my resolve.
It took a couple months of riding but I eventually discovered the distinct advantages of Cruzbikes.
As my byline says "There is no downside to fast AND comfortable".
I've since graduated to a Vendetta in addition to a T50 and an older Silvio 1.0
Good luck with your Cruzbike adventures!
