Lost part

I just lost a part off my new Sofrider. It just fell while I was riding. It's the little metal bit which links the "front" derailleur cable housing to the clamp holding the ajustable front tube. Hope I'm clear. How can I get a new part? A LBS couldn't figure it out.

I now own a 8-speed SR...

I just checked mine...

Mine is loose also. Definitely a consideration for a spot of blue Loctite. I am sure if there are spares available, John or Doug will chime in. You could check http://problemsolversbike.com/ in the meantime. It might take some creativity; I don't even know what this part is called. I guess it is some dort of cable stop/cable hanger...IDK.

I hope so.

I don't have this kind of creativty. It never happened to me in decades to lose bike parts while riding. That's scary. And that was a factory-installed part!

^^^That's the part I suspect it to be.

I'm thinking that's it.

Anyway, to the OP, don't be too concerned about loose parts and being factory-installed; these bikes have several bolts, nuts and connectors that aren't found on a typical road bike. Sometimes things loosen in transit and of course, whilst riding. It would be good practice to either tighten every connection to the recommended torque specs or have your LBS do the job.

Sorry about losing the part, but I am sure it can be sorted out.

My «dealer» said he might

My «dealer» said he might have one (he changed the drivetrain on his Sofrider), but I'll have to visit him to be sure. Heard nothing from Cruzbike. And without a part number, I don't see how I could order one from a LBS.

Hi,
Worse comes to worse, it

Hi,

Worse comes to worse, it looks like something where one could fairly easily repurpose another part in its place. Your LBS might be able to take a look a the picture above and figure out how to rig something up.

Bonne chance (and keep us informed),

Wied thing is, how does that

Wied thing is, how does that part fall off if the clamp is done up, as the clamp bolt goes right through it, plus another bolt. Part number, I have only the manufacturer's part number, good for buying quantities of 100.

You're right, Paul. I just

You're right, Paul. I just had a look, and what I lost is only the screwlike bolt which goes through the hole of the clamp and holds the cable.
