MARATHON HS 420 tires

Cruzbike newbie question:

Will these tires work with stock rims?

I see PSI range is higher than stock tires.

Would there be any problems running them towards to upper end of PSI range (90-100 pis)?

I'm sure there is an official answer, but the stock Q rims should be tough enough to handle most things you want to throw at them. They are made to be able to handle touring so you should be good. The only thing stock rims are not going to be fine for are things you are unlikely to use the Q45 for: the extremes of DownHill / Freestyle giant jumps or super, super light weight, and therefore extremely pricey.

All that said though the research is showing that ideal inflation is lower than most people think it is. Maybe @super slim can post up that chart again.

The stock Q45 tire is a 1.75" width. I see from Schwalbe website that the Marathon HS 420 range in tire width from 1.25" to 2".
32-559 (26 x 1.25)
40-559 (26 x 1.50)
47-559 (26 x 1.75)
50-559 (26 x 2.00)

Note that tire pressures on the side of tires are not the same thing as what is ideal for you depending on that depends on your weight, bike weight, rim width, roughness, sharpness type of ground you are riding over, etc. (And sidewall numbers are mainly there for legal reasons and probably based on a small fraction of the pressure required to blow them off of a very specific test rim in a laboratory). Check this video out if you are interested.

If you do get them, I'd sure be interested in a write up of your experiences with them.

Thanks for the awesome video.

I am going to watch several times and apply what I learn.

I will keep you posted as I apply this information.

In fairness, I will be riding indoor on rollers until the roads and trails clear up around me.

Existing tires are still good and I will likely use them until I wear them out.

Will definitely replace with Marathons as soon as needed.

Thanks again!

Use this individual wheel load chart to work out the best tyre pressure for your tyre width!
Most cruzbikes have a 50%/50% F/R loaded wheel loads with rider only, not carrying 30 kg of camping gear, so weigh yourself + bike and divide by two!!

I have a simple Excel spreadsheet, but cannot upload it!
Is there a format that I can save it to, that would be acceptable to the forum software?

The forum accepts the following: txt, pdf, png, jpg, jpeg, jpe, gif
I've never tried posting a pdf until now. We'll see how it goes...

I tried saving the Excel file as a pdf, and it was split into many pages and no cell calculations!
