50 Miler

Well it has been almost two weeks since my last ride as I have been out of town for work. So, I get back yesterday and I am itching to get out. Since my last attempt at 50 miles got stopped short due to nasty weather and rain, yesterday was 70F, 8-10mph wind and blue sky.

Long story short was I got my 50 miles in. But after a week of early morning and late nights; not to mention jus getting off a 2 hour plane ride, I was a bit tired.

The first 20 was awesome, so was the next 20. But that last 10 where difficult. I decided not to ride past the farm dogs on this trip so it cut out about 10 miles from my normal route so I had to plan and scout out an new 10 on the fly. I ended up at several stop lights and stop signs and through town. Hence my average mph was down.

Needless to say I had a great ride, hit my 50 mile benchmark and had a great workout.

I LOVE this Vendetta. For those that have their on order, you are in for an awesome experience!!!

Advice on Gearing

Well I am reaching out to fthills and some of the other more tech savvy of you out there. I am looking to improve my gearing. It appears that when I don't have a positive load on the pedals I get a lot of pedal steering. This tends to happen on downhills when I reach the max of the gears, on flats when I am at max, etc. It seems I can only get to a speed of about 30-35mph before my gears wont keep up and I get too much crank spin and pedal steer and basically have to coast and free wheel it until I slow down enough to get some load on the pedals. Is there a gear you would suggest? I have the basic gearing. I believe it is 53/39 and 11/28. Then again, I have no idea. Shame on me, but I just like to ride.

Appreciate any help you can offer.
