My S40 recumbent butt solution

I purchased a new S40 in July. I like the feel of the bike. It is much easier to handle then my previous Silvio 2. However I was unable to ride it for more than 30 minutes without beginning to feel a pain in my butt. So I went between the Silvio and the S 40 hoping that it was a need for conditioning my body to a new bike. Well that didn't happen. So I contacted Robert Holler to see if he had any ideas. He suggested extending the seat pan out as far as it would go and add some padding at the tip of the seat pan. So I did but did not like the squishiness of the padding.
So I came up with another solution. I had previously ordered a foam pad to increase the back of the seat by 15 degrees. I wanted to see if I liked the more upright position of the S40 before ordering the new bike. So I used this on the Silvio. However I didn't like the foam and quit using it. So I cut off about 3 and 1/2 inches of the foam which has a curved shape to it and placed on the S40 with the velcro attachment. It works perfectly and I really like it. I have enclosed photos to show what it looks like.

I just did the same thing today, the real test is going to be Tuesday night when I ride the levee
If this works out I might have a brand new Thor gs seat for sale. Just ordered it a couple of days ago.

The seat pan on the S30 was one of the reasons I went to a Thor seat. It didn't feel long enough for me, and it couldn't be extended. I never slid into the frame, but there was always the feeling that I could have.

The other reason was that I wanted my head more upright, so I was less dependent on the neckrest, without changing the whole seat angle. If the seat pan hadn't been an issue, that wedge behind the shoulders would probably have been all I needed.

Yes I have a Silvio 2 and I know what you mean. I never liked the front suspension on the Silvio 2. I feel that the S 40 handles much better without the suspension.

So how is it after riding for some time now? Is the recumbent butt issue gone now?

I have not ridden more than an hour and a half on my trainer. I have not had any problems with a sore butt but I did have to adjust the boom in. I have been getting sore hamstrings and cramping. The wedge causes a greater reach to the pedals.
