New S40 Owner

So very happy to have my new S40! Love, love, love, the color!

Sadly, UPS mangled the shipping box, chipped the paint to the undercoat on the forks, gouged the headrest bar and punched a hole in the box too. Apparently, they set the shipping box on end in a puddle of water which caused the damaged. Ho Hum.

That is a bummer - Hopefully you can get the fork replaced by them, or possibly repainted.
What type of support do you have under the front wheel. Looks pretty cool

The "quality" of how the shipping companies handle items that go into their trucks just about makes me SICK. Particularly as they arrive from Taiwan in PRISTINE condition every time - loaded into the truck right side up with 100% care.

Then, unleash the US delivery services and its all bets are off - sometimes I think these people take it as a challenge to TRY and destroy things. And I will tell you all from experience - there is nearly zero recourse with those people.

Triple shipping costs in less than 6 months and thats the treatment you get from them.

When I worked in a warehouse, the manager was always onto us to pull our fingers out. We need that truck loaded and out 10 minutes ago. And pack it. Do not waste any space. Lazy? No. Bloody hard work. But I remember our motto. "We've got it sorted, we've got it licked. If it ain't fucking broken it'll get fucking nicked".

Cruzbike packaging is the best. The way some people pack their stuff is daft.

Exactly... there really is no recourse. You get what you get.

It's called an EZ Bike Stand. Used to be on Amazon but no longer.

Btw, you went whizzing by me yesterday on Zwift. I couldn't figure out how to message you but I did give you a "LIKE".

I like your Zwift avatar... LOL

Thank you so much for your assembly and fit videos!!! Made life much easier for me.

I watched and followed all the fit videos and have my leg and arm reach just about right...might need some small tweaking after riding a bit. However, my knees have been hurting and the reason 'appears to be' due to the fact that my bent knee angle is way less than 90 degrees at the top of the pedal stroke.

I went out to the Recumbent Crank Length Calculator page (http://www.recumbents.com/wisil/misc/crank_angle.asp) and plugged in my measurements...Hip to Knee "A":45mm and Knee to pedal "B": 54mm giving a crank length of 145mm and a Min Knee Angle of 89 degrees.

So, my question is, can someone who has changed out their stock cranks, point me to the best place to get 145mm crank arms that will fit with my existing stock equipment (SRAM Apex 1 GXP Crankset 165mm with 42T 110mm Asymmetric BCD X-Sync Chainring).

Thanks so much!

Someone should be able to refer you to someone who can cut down existing cranks. Otherwise, I confirm that COBB cranks work well.

How long have Cobb been doing that? I never saw that and I did a lot of looking.
I don’t know when John Cobb started, but in 2016 I set up my first Cruzbike with a Cobb 155mm crankset paired with Q Rings. All based on recommendations from this forum. I think J Cobb had sold the company some time ago. cobbcycling.com no longer exists, speedandcomfort.com now sells the goods.

I use Bikesmith design cranks on my S30 and on my Silvio 2.1. You can also use Rotor Aldhu cranks that were recommended by Ratz in one his builds. The Rotor cranks are lighter in weight.

I bought 145mm Cobb crankset for my S30 to replace the Sram 170mm crankset I originally used, after experiencing knee pain. I am very happy with them, wish I had taken the short crank advice on this forum before starting out with the longer ones initially. I also have a T50 that I replaced the original cranks with 150mm from Origin8, definitely worth it.
