New S40

I got an S40 frameset in October. For me the choice was all about wheels and tires. I knew I wanted to run 42mm tires with fenders so that meant 650B wheels (at least on the 2020 model; not sure if the 2021 model has different clearances) and that meant a frameset. The rest of the stuff I don't care that much about, but I will say I love my bar end shifters. What others have said about shipping is absolutely true. The frame and everything else I ordered from cruzbike arrived with shocking speed. I had to wait around for lots of other things though. Sourcing all the components becomes like a hobby in itself. It was nice during the chilly pandemic months this past fall.

Slim,

I am pretty sure with the stock wheels a 38c will fit. The limiting factor is the crown height. usually for tires bigger than 32c (at least with our stock 700c rims) I recommend changing to a 650b anymore. But we don't have that as an option on the S40...

If one was building from a frame set wheel size with disc brakes could be virtually whatever you want especially if you build your own wheels.

How do you have them standing in a row so nicely? Are these demos, shakedown testers, advance long range record holders’ test mules?

If they are going into stock can I get a Blueridge autographed special edition?

What Cruzbike jersey is shown in the photo? Where can I buy or steal one?
This is the "Records" jersey that lists all the records that Cruzbike riders made up through 2015. Most of the records on it are Maria, but I do have the 100 mile road record I set in Oct 2015 on it. Rode 100 miles in 3:59:31 - boy was that close! haha

As far as I know -there are none left in the "leftover" box at the warehouse.
I did not have one of these beauties until 2 years ago, when I visited France (2019 HPV World Championships) and "DavidCH" was nice enough to give me one of his when I told him I never was able to get one- I gave him one of my "original Cruzbike" Jerseys in return. Now we are both happier. :D

With a 2020 S40, due to clearance with the fork crown, if I want 38c (or larger) tires, there shouldn’t be any problem with 650b wheels?

Above is the front. Rims are 650bx22. Tyres are Gravel King 38mm. Sometimes you find that different makes of tyre seem to be different sizes, even though they claim to be the same. On my Silvio the mudguards were a really tight fit. I cannot remember what make of 28mm tyres I had, but then I got 25mm Vittoria, and they were definitely bigger and had even less mudguard clearance. And 650b tyre size designations are even more opaque than 700c.

S40 frame set was my first bent Bike. Here’s what I did to it.

1) Thor Easy Seat - just way more comfy for me. Your results may vary.
2) 155mm crank set, Sram Apex shortened by Bikesmith Fabrications. 50/34 w 11-35 cassette
3) Found the head rest unnecessary so flipped it upside down to make an easy rack. Cut a few inches off the base to allow it to go further into the frame. Keep an elastic Velcro band wrapped for securing the odd jacket, bag of bagels, etc.
4) Hope Twentyfive wheelset w Panracer Gravel King 35mm tubeless tires.
5) Ventisit seat pad

Plenty of help on theForum if you run into any tough spots.

Enjoy!
Hey Paco! What did you do to install the thor seat easy? I’ve got mine, but it’s sitting in a corner, staring at me. It’s daring me to cut the seat mounting flanges off the frame to make it fit…

Exactly what I did. But since have learned that a better solution might be to drill holes in the seat ribs to provide space for the tabs. My S40 is cut. V is drilled. Both work fine
