Q45 fender help

Hi,
Has anyone installed fenders on the new Q45? @Robert Holler ... I tried Planet Bicycle Cascadia ALX 27.5. It looks like the struts are too short because the distance from the fender mount to the tire is fairly wide which means the rest of the fender needs that much gap as well. See picture. If I pull the struts to the hole, the back of the fender will rub against the tire. It almost look like it needs a 700c fender to make it work.
Anyone got a fender mounted?

That would never happen in my house, I can tell you that. I would suggest being reeeeealllly nice to her, but it's obvious that you already are.

Haha. I agree. I move my bikes in to work on them because it's a lot warmer and with snacks. I had to wipe the tires before I roll in the bike. I also cover the carpet plus vacuum up debris as soon as anything falls down. I don't want to sleep in the garage.

I have mounted a set.
For whatever reason, the rear attachment screw hole, the only useful one, was placed entirely too low and way too close to the skewer lever on the left side. I was able to use a small nylon washer, a 1/2" aluminum stand off, and two fender washers to capture the 1/8" stainless steel welding rod that I bent up to make my own custom set of fender mounts.
You'll notice that while the left side fender mounting hardware is in place, the skewer is only able to live in one limited arc of movement and you can't unscrew the skewer without removing the fender mounting hardware completely. To accommodate the correct torque for the lever pressure, there is an adjustment torque screw on the right side of the 12mm axle that can be used to obtain enough tension.
I transferred my hub motor, wheel and 26"X2" Schwalbe tire that I made up for my T50.
I'm sorely tempted to drill and tap a hole on the flat top of the rear swing arm and install a few 90 degree angle brackets for fender mount positions.
Further, I 3D printed the forward bracket for the fender as well. One wasn't included.
Last night I cut off the foot from the kickstand which is 2" too short to actually do any good. I'm currently 3D printing a longer foot to JB Weld in it's place.

cpml123 - In your case, I might rotate the render forward enough for your wires to clear the skewer and cut off the the forward part of the fender and drill a fresh mounting hole or, bend the wires in an arc around the skewer. Hang tight till I drill and tap my new mounting holes later today. Might be the best choice.

One other thing to look out for.
In order to limit the swing of the kickstand, some creative soul installed a tek screw through the kickstand hinge body. The point loading of the number 8 screw shattered the thin aluminum contact face. I had to zip tie in a small nylon shim to act as a stop. Once I install my new extended foot with the proper floor contact angles, I'll be able to remove the shim. I'm hoping....

I see. I am planning to get a set of 29er fenders instead of 27.5 as they "seem" or should have longer struts.
As far as going around the skewer, I am wondering if you think these kits might help:

cpml123 - Your local welding shop will have 1/8" stainless welding rod. Super easy to cold bend with a few pairs of vice grips. Would save you a lot of $$.

I see connector nuts have already been mentioned, which are a good thing. My S40 uses them too for the mudguards.

I'd also advocate things wotnots (name I forget) on my S40 front wheel thusly:

Wow you bent your welding rod really nicely. I do have a few 3 ft welding rods left over that I got to fit fenders to my S40. I thought they were a pain to bend around, so I am trying to avoid doing that again. Maybe the 29er's fenders will fit better. At least it's cheaper than the 27.5 Cascadia ALX.

I'm in the same boat. I bought mine directly from Planet Bike. They wouldn't sell me 2 rear fenders, but they did sell me a set plus an extra rear fender that they scraped up. I don't want to do a lot of fiddling to fit these, so I'm planning to send them back. They'll accept the return, but I have to pay for the shipping.

Anyway, are you saying that you're planning to try the 29" version of the same fender? Looks like the width of those fenders is 65mm. Is that going to be a problem?

I was going to order 29 version from Amazon. I think 65mm fit the back is fine. Front... probably not fit, but I was thinking to cut a notch so that it will fit inside the fork. I may try again today to fit the 27.5 version before ordering 29 version. Thank goodness for Amazon free return.

I think I made the Cascadia ALX 27.5 work, after 3 hours. Urrr... However, using my 16 yo's words... they are wretched looking.

Another update...

After 5 hours of working on this, I can confirm Planet Bicycle's Cascadia ALX 27.5 60mm does fit, but it needs new set of support posts. I also had to endure my wife's roasting several times.... why does this thousand$ dollar bike need me to spend several hours to fit a $70 fenders on? I couldn't say anything especially I got to work in the warm living room instead of the cold garage.

Back...You will also need to get three 1/8 in 36in long stainless welding rods. You can buy 1 lb tube from Amazon. They are for the back fender.

Front is a little easier. You do need to bend the area inside the fork a little to make it fit. The support posts need some adjusting and trimming.
