Q45 with a dog ?

I will be bringing my 6 lb chihuahua with me. Any suggestions on how to carry in a way we can kinda see each other ? One option I thought of was the small under seat rack with him strapped into a pannier. Thanks for any suggestions.

My apologies if there's a thread on this I didn't see. (I searched some but couldn't find.)20240130_154206.jpg

I pull my dog in a Burley trailer on a variety of bikes and that works well - but he weighs 40 pounds, so I don’t have a choice! What you’re proposing could work if you train him up to it step-by-step, but I wonder how well he would be protected in case of accident. In any case, you’ll want a fender with a long mud flap on the front wheel to protect him from splashes and road debris. You might also consider RexSpecs.

I saw this guy with his dog recently at a 300k Brevet, where he brought the dog for the entire ride apparently:

Wow, that's quite a sight! While the dog might not have the best view compared to being up front, it seems to be in a safe and secure spot. The dog appears to be quite at ease, which is a good sign. This setup could indeed work for long rides.
