Qs on seat for Q

I've seen a few posts on seat choices for Cruzbikes. The Q45 is my first recumbent, so I'm not sure if I should be looking for something else (like a Thor seat), so my first question for folks that have changed seats: Why did you make the change, and what did you choose?
The second question is the seat cushion. Does the Ventisit eliminate or just reduce the amount of back sweat?
Thanks!

I put a Thor seat on. It supports my back much better and overall more comfortable. Ventisit allowed better cooling.

I chose to change seat due to having broad shoulders and the stock seat just didn’t provide the type of back support I was looking for.

I have had a Thor seat and mesh seat on my Q45. You can’t go wrong with either one for comfort. I currently have the mesh seat (Bacchetta B3) on my Q because I wanted to move my Thor to my S40 to help with recumbutt and I already had the B3 from a previous recumbent. The ventisit pad is great as well as it does not retain moisture from those long rides. Not crazy soft but gets the job done. The Thor would be more economical and I think you’ll love it like I did.

I put the Thor seat on my Q45 after experiencing recumbutt on a 600 mile week long ride. Not everyone has that problem, so you might want to try the stock seat first. I think the Thor helped me because it allowed the seat to recline more (I’m at about 35 degrees). That took weight off my butt and transferred it to my back. I’m about 210 lb, so that maybe contributed to the recumbutt problem. After the Thor was installed, I rode Coast to Coast with no problems.

@vmi1056 and @woodguy, thanks for your experiences. I get a pain in the butt after about 40 minutes, but it goes away after a bit so I'm not sure if that is the dreaded recumbutt or the muscle differences from riding a DF for so many years. But, I have't heard here or elsewhere on the forum anyone having a bad experience with the Thor seat, so I'll probably move forward with that soon while I'm attached to the trainer (snow on the ground so it may be a while until I'm back on the road).
Thanks again!

Could you post some pictures of the connection points between your Thor seat and the frame of the Q45? I have been using the stock seat mount, and I feel they lift me off the frame. I would like for the Thor seat to rest on the frame directly. I'm thinking of fashioning something from either wood or PVC.

If you search you can find numerous examples and images in the CB forums showing Thor seat adaptations to various CBs.

Here is where I wish I was more competent with tech. I did a post in 2019 with pictures and explanation of how I mounted the Thor on my Q45, but I don’t know how to link it here. Search the forum for posts from Woodguy, Search for “Q45 bracket for Thor”. You should find my original post from Aug of 2019.

Keep in mind that my Q is the 2018 version, and that the seat attachment system might be a little different on a newer bike, but it should give you a start.
