Question on measurements

Can anyone provide the measurements from the ground up to the high points on the Quest 559 and Sofrider V2? The two points of interest are the top of the seat back and the handlebars. I'm trying to determine how well these bikes will fit in the spaces provided for storing bikes on our light rail trains. The bay is not so deep, so I'm concerned about the bike height.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Ed,

The Sofrider V2.2 high points are: handlebars: 45 5/8" & seatback: 40 1/2" @ 45° seatback angle.

The Quest 559 high points are: handlebars: 45 1/4" & seatback: 38 1/4" @ 46° seatback angle.

Just for completeness, the #'s for the Q451 -- handlebars: 43" & seatback 37 5/8" @ 52° seatback angle (my wife likes a more upright seat).

Thanks again for your help.

I'm a bit concerned about the 45" height of the bars. I'll need to measure the bay on the train to see how that will work. My DF bike seat height is about 38" and this sticks out about the maximum reasonable amount. But that's with the bike hanging from the front wheel with some space between the bike and the wall of the car. If I could hang the Cruzbike by its front triangle then it would fit further into the bay.

The highest point of the steering extension tube on the Q559 is 42 3/4". If you wanted to carry the appropriate allen wrench, you could loosen the handlebar riser & slide it down until the top of the handlebars were that height also.

Further, I'm 6'2" & have the handlebar riser adjusted to the top of the extension tube. I've lowered it a few inches for a couple of extreme seatback angle experiments. If you're shorter, you may be able to lower it as a matter of course for proper fit & not have to adjust it every time you take the train.
