RAAM time to spread the word again about 3000 miles to a cure

Following the tracker today, the Cruzies are leading the Mixed 50-59 race and 4th overall among all 4 person teams. Go Team Go! The 4 Dudes are in the middle of the pack.

Cruzbike has reached the highest point on the RAAM route, Wolf Creek Pass at 10,856 ft (3309m). This team is just incredible. They still have 150 miles to go in the mountains, and then look at that profile, the advantage turns recumbent.

Hope they are not burning too many matches. The team looked to be stopped a couple hours earlier today. This is such an incredibly hard thing to do. But fast roads are ahead.

Yes! It will not be long until it's time to shine. Let the light in ya shine brighter than the light shining on ya!

Cruzbike has reached the end of the big mountains. Other 4-person teams (under 50) have opened a 120 mile gap through the mountains, but now the route profile changes to favor recumbents. So 120 miles is not going to be nearly enough. And Cruzbike went through the mountains in the lead of 50+ age teams. Simply amazing.

Cruzbike finished the high mountains with an 18.8mph average. The current recumbent record at the finish is 20.7mph set back in 2005. They are well on their way to surpass that.

Is there any interest in a meetup at the finish to greet the RAAM finishers, including the 3kc teams?

Here's a reminder of the links. Hopefully when the support crew has more time on their hands (yeah, right) we'll get more updates on what crazy things are happening. There is no one doubting this is a hard endeavor. I am so very glad to hear all riders are safe and sound. It's worrisome when the blue dots get stuck for too long, but as ratz pointed out, the blue dots are the support vehicle and not necessarily the riders.

Quick update from ratz on facebook:

Long day yesterday the mountains be hard on rider, crew, and equipment. Two dead derailleur motors, one LED headlamp, 5 radio antennas, van repair, 3 tires, one Carbon wheel. One mechanic's sanity. All riders safe and sound. Don't know the total $xxxxx but Continuing the race to #beatbraincancer priceless. Now we are into our terrain time to tear up the miles. #cruzebike3kc
