RAIN Ride 2018

I saw this guy post this the the rain fb page. I dont get to see myself like this often. The uv sleeves seemed to work at keeping the sun off my arms and legs as well as seemed to help keep me from overheating.

Both were bought on amazon. Unfortunately the forum will not let me paste the actual url but here are two screenshots of the individual url's
These are the leg sleeves: upload_2019-8-5_12-39-4.png

They were both a last minute idea to try and not have to rely on sunscreen and try and battle the heat. I would say they did not make the temperature of my arms 50 deg cooler but maybe 5 degrees cooler than how my chest did and that was a light weight jersey. They did do what I wanted and I would buy them again if I needed to. The only slightly annoying thing is the top of the leg sleeves have a velcro strap to adjust for size. I think this could be done away with as the shorts or bibs lay over the tops of the sleeves and hold them in place. If I was wearing a banana hammock I could possibly see the need for this velcro.

I have also tried the sleeves. Found them to help a bit in hot days that aren’t too humid but need to take them off as soon as the ride stops as they feel a bit warm without any air moving. Definitely provide good sun block so great for long rides that last longer than typical effective sun block 90 minutes. I have the L Garneau offering.

I wasnt sure how effective they would be so I went cheap this time. I was out there roughly 7 hours in direct sunlight and no burn anywhere but my face and ears. Needed a buff made of the same material I guess. I am sure that would have been way too hot though.

Great ride and report Ken - you did fantastic!!
Heal up Daryl - glad nothing was broken.
Anybody planning on Mid-Atl in Washington, NC - It is the 6-hour National Championship. I have gone the past 5 years - 5 years ago it was my first ultra-race - and I was on a Silvio 2.0
Not sure I am going to have time to go this year or not. I may have to choose between this and the Cruzbike retreat in Oct. Thinking the retreat would win out!
