We haven't posted to this thread for a long time. I happened to check the BIKES page. I don't know when pricing was changed but was surprised with what I saw. Now Silvio frameset is $100 MORE than Vendetta!!!

Vendetta price dropped and Silvio increased!!

That's a $500 increase in the Silvio price! "Modest" was not the word that came to mind. Some new goodness would be cool but perhaps demand is just outstripping supply and the goal is to slow down orders.

I do think the Silvio is a more "complicated" bike than the Vendetta, so I'm not surprised it costs more. Personally, I'd prefer a Silvio over a Vendetta (but if anybody's got a Vendetta they want to get rid of, I'll take it! :D ).

I do agree with Jeremy that $500 (or almost 25%) is not what I would call "modest". (I'm not saying it's unreasonable, but it's still not tiny.)

Makes senses to me

Seems like a pretty sensible set of changes in-line with much of thoughts in this thread.

Here's my gut reaction to it actually happening:

When I first made the final decision I went Silvio. The go fast part of me wanted a Vendetta, but the Silvio was a better buy and it had the suspension that I believed that if I was sensible I would wanted. Those two made details price+suspension the decision for me. Because it was Cruzbike #1 for us, cheaper was simply the more sensible approach. If these had been the prices I would have taken a flyer on the Vendetta to heck with the suspension. Based on a number of side conversations and emails I have had as of late I think this will balance the sales volumes between the two models more than it will slow down overall demand. The relative prices of the two bikes was more of a factor than the level of the price. Should be interesting too see whose building what on the forums over the next few months. Since the Silvio's went out of stock things really slowed down.

Now the more interesting item is the Quest being $1695 through June. I think that is the sweet spot for that bike where price level is a much bigger driver; it would be nice to see that be a permanent price change. http://cruzbike.com/reading-tea-leaves-ii?page=1#comment-26926

Makes sense to me and the change is pretty modest. As we've discussed the two are now more similar than dissimilar and the Silvio offers some additional refinement than the Vendetta which I'm sure makes it a bit more expensive to produce.

What I'm intrigued with is the shipping date notice for the Silvio for August 2014. Seems like a larger than usual lag so I'm wondering if John is introducing some new Silvio goodness.

Edit: OK, from a purely mathematical perspective maybe pretty modest wasn't the best description but I had this post in mind http://cruzbike.com/reading-tea-leaves#comment-26205 whilst I was typing...

And the bullhorn handlebar

And the bullhorn handlebar purchase option on Vendetta is gone too!!

The pre-order code puts the final Silvio price slightly lower than Vendetta, but that's still a huge increase. Those saving up for a Silvio but not ordered yet would feel kinda bummed!!

This is my first post but it

This is my first post but it might not be my last:eek:)

I would like to start by thanking forum members for all the sharing knowledge and inspiration. I have looked for quite some time on this website but have never seen a cruzebike in real life and even less tried one, for me it will take a flight to do so.... I´m a owner of a Catrike 700 and a regular Mtb for the moment, like them both but yet not a dedicated cyclist, but I´m working on it )

It was good news (at least from a customer point of view) that the price of the Vendetta went down but equally sad that Silvions price went the other way. The 500 USD extra on the Silvio is where I live including customs and VAT about 720 USD ..... to my opinion the higher price might cause a difference and effect the total sales volume on cruzebikes. I off course, don´t know the best level for price VS volume. But the business are based on a web shop with products which are delivered unassembled as a kit why I just don´t see why volume shouldn´t be the focus?

The three major things for me to consider when choosing a new roadbike for nice rides , except for prize, are Comfort, aerodynamic and climbing ability. DF racers only have the climbing ability. Recumbent have all more or less generally both aerodynamic and comfort but not so many have all three! Cruzebike have proven their capacity many times why I am convinced that Mr. Tolhurst is a very talented designer who has in a very clever way built in aerodynamics and comfort in the bikes without concrete trade-offs which is quite unique and may be the reason for the declared good climbing properties. Because of the platform I think that all cruzebike models could be better climbers than comparable recumbents in the same segment and prize and that can give the construction and brand the USP like "Recumbents that climb fast"....Because of the smooth and clever construction with the given benefits in combination with the typical comfort for recumbents I suggest "the laidback climber"
This may be regarded as my contribution to a not yet pronounced contest )

Hope that I have not offended anyone with my post, if that's the case I blame my poor English or Microsoft translator )

Ends by wishing you all the best and off course- nice, comfortable and fast riding on your cruzebikes!!
