Bottom Bracket - Again

Here's something that some people will find interesting.

On the Vendetta I have that XD-15 Bottom Bracket mentioned at the top of the thread; On the Silvio I have the Standard SRAM BB that comes with the Rival Crankset.

As mentioned in the other thread I trashed the bearing in the original SRAM one by over tightening the Chain Stay clamps; resulting in a set of bearing that felt like they were turning in gravel. So after John and Robert gave us the relative details of how to approach that. I replace the SRAM BB with and identical unused one that I had as a spare; and properly tighented this time. Then I too the Vendetta loosed it up and set it correctly too.

Then we did a spin down comparison between the high end BB and the "free" SRAM one. I think you'll find this interesting. (Both BB's are installed and torqued correctly).

I might now be getting a XD-15 for the Silvio but I'm certainly going to go get something better than the SRAM on that's on there now. Mrs Ratz bike has the same SRAM setup and it's spin down is about the same as mine in the video.

Very interesting Bob. I

Very interesting Bob. I purchased a "SRAM Bottom Bracket GXP Ceramic Red Team Cups" for my Vendetta and the crank spins similar to your XD-15. One of the things I also noticed is you have to take care in not creating stress on the bearings between the crank arms too, I've done it, and the cranks won't spin freely either.
