Recumbents now allowed in national senior games road races

For us more “mature” riders, I was happy to see that the senior games in Alabama now specifically include recumbent bikes and trikes in all cycling events. In the past, my state (Mississippi) and some others have allowed them in all events but the national rules as late as 2025 excluded recumbents from the 20K & 40K road races, "Recumbent bikes and trikes are prohibited in the road race competitions." Recumbents were only officially included in the shorter time trials in the national rules.

I looked up the latest NSGA rules which cover the national senior games for 2027, and they've officially added road race classes for recumbents! Progress!

So, those are separate classes for recumbents only? The uprights are not allowed to compete against recumbents bikes?

Well--the Texas events are March--I emailed inquiring if Recumbents are allowed as they only link to the 2027 rules-waiting to hear back.
