Riding Downhill

I've probably put on 500 miles now on my Sofrider 2, but had an unfortunate experience yesterday. Going downhill, perhaps 15-20 mph, it was as if the bike just took on a mind of it's own and began straying right and I didn't feel as if there was anything I could do to counteract this stray without crashing. Well, none-the-less I crashed anyways into a cement underpass and now my bike is in the repair shop and I'm sore and bruised. The challenge here is I don't even know what I did wrong. I've ridden this same hill in the past multiple times. Should I just go slower downhill or put feet down? Does anyone have any suggestions because now I'm a bit fearful? Thanks, Dan

Were you pedaling or not?

Would recommend pedaling lightly at near your usual cadence while controlling speed with brakes. This will keep your body 'walking' Your experience sounds a bit like someone with their shoes nailed to the floor.

John:
Thanks for the advice. Hopefully that will help. It was a very scary feeling of not having control. Will definitely use more brake and keep the legs amoving!

Thanks,
Dan
