On the question about the stiffness of the leaf spring...I have a S30 as well, and the rear suspension is meant to be only enough to take the edge off of anything you might encounter on the road--driveway lips, minor road surface irregularities, train track crossings, etc. Compared to my V20, the S30 is not that much softer, which I appreciate. I don't see how you could easily make the S30 stiffer, but it's pretty stiff as it is.

I don't seem to be able to attach additional photos. Each time I try, I get a message saying the attachment is not an image.
Any suggestions?

Hi do you mind sharing how you modified the seat to raise the angle. You mentioned custom brackets. We’re they purchased pre-mfg, or custom fabricated for this bike. Also is that a Thor seat?

Purchaser it appears from a the pictures that the boom clamp that is between the bottom bracket and the headset may be upside down or the slider is upside down depending on how you want it set up. The slot in the slider should be aligned with the gap in the clamp so that the clamp puts its pressure directly on closing the gap rather than squeezing the tube.

Thanks. New owner here. I noticed this and have turned the slider the other way down in one of my recent fit adjustments. I'm about 12 hours in and was confident enough to take it out on the road to a bike path on a quiet Sunday morning but not confident enough yet to try with clipless shoes. As I've been adjusting the fit at the same time as I've been learning it's hard to tell if its my skills or getting the bike right that's having a bigger influence. I removed the tall 120mm stem riser and put in a 60mm. My next move will be to try the original bars... I feel like I like having them low but get constrained by the narrow drops when turning... or maybe its in my head. I'm debating whether to try to tip the seat back to 30% and maybe drop the stem further at the same time.

On question for other S30 owners... anyone using the bolt holes in the base of the frame to mount accessories under the bike? It seems like it would be an easier place to reach than behind the seat. I'm thinking of putting the water bottle cages down there. Maybe the bottles will get too mucky to drink? Maybe its a good spot for a bottle/box for tools?

Thanks Pravacon!

Once you get your balance down and become proficient on the bike I think you'll find that bottle behind the head are easier to get out and replace while riding. Yes, I the bottom of the bottles I put under my seat were sprayed by whatever I ran my front wheel through, but the tops of the bottles remained pretty clean unless I had a full head of steam going. Then it absolutely soaked every thing down there. Unless you put a fender on it the spinning back wheel will fling water onto the bottles and your head. Here is 1 thread on hydration for the V20, but it will probably work from your S30 too...

I have my pump on the frame holes on my S30. My water bottle is mounted mid way up the seat. I don’t use the water bottle while riding unless I have a hose attached. On my Silvio 2.1, I have the water bottles behind my head.

A fit/learning suggestion: if you have all of the original parts, return the bike to its to its original design/layout, learn that first, then tweak as needed. I say this because my first CB was a V20, the most challenging bike to learn in the lineup. That 20 degree recline was super scary at first, but with practice and some time that fear went away and it now feels natural. On both my V20 and S30, I added a curved slider and swapped the medium chainstays for short chainstays, but that is because I am short. The bikes' default layout is really nicely designed.
