S30 underseat bottle cage mounting

So, I got the bottle cage standoff/spacer blocks. The left side went fine. The right side, not so much. There is complete interference with the brake/cable. (Will be even more pronounced when the brake is actuated.)

Seems like a poor design. Am I doing something wrong? Do people just re-drill the holes farther up the seat to avoid this interference?

I did re-drill holes further up the seat pan, which not only eliminated brake cable interference, but made spacers unnecessary, and tucked the cages/bottles a little more out of the wind, such as it is. You can just barely see the original holes. Good place for a pump bracket?

I ended removing my water bottle cages because they were rubbing on the frame and damaging it. Yeah the pre-drilled holes are not in the right place for a S30. Got mine in a rack behind my head, and one under the steering tube.

I had a different set of cages that I tried for my Vendetta for new under-seat mounts and there is no brake interference. They are a tad heavier than the CB cages, and without the drink tube are a PITA to get to while riding without sitting up. But I like them there because they are lower than the mounts behind the head making my bike a little less top heavy, and are a tad more hidden in side winds.

This is 1 of the things I really like about CB and the V20 in my case. There are plenty of options of moving stuff around depending on the ride length and speed, and weather conditions.

So far I am not skilled enough to pull a waterbottle out of any of my cage positions and drink then replace it while riding. I tried getting a hose for the bottles and drinking from that, but that's been a failure too. I think the under the steering tube has the best chance because I can see the cage to align it with the bottle when replacing it, but I worry about it being close to my tender bits in the event of a crash...
