I have had my gen 5 S40 for a year now, and 7,000 miles.
Current Configuration:
Caden 60mm wheel set, Pirelli P zero tires.
Caden 160mm rotors
Wheeltop Tx electronic shifter/derailleur (cable brake pull)
Shimano Ultegra 11-34 12 speed cassette.
Praxis Zayante 160mm crankset, 40 tooth chainring
Wahoo Speedplay Power pedals
I had actually purchased a complete build from the Cruzbike Warehouse for $3500 and upgraded parts along the way, with the Wheeltop electronic shifting as the last upgrade--its nice not to have the cable that exited from the brifter tapping my leg as I pedal.
I am using Wolftooth B-Rad bottle shift mounts to improve the location of the seat back bottle mounts. The stock set up left my bottles rubbing the frame, and since I use Camelback Steel Podium bottles, that was a problem.
I did my first 100 mile ride since 1984 in February when I participated in the Tour de Palm Springs-5 hours 38 minutes moving time, 17.7mph. There is a long downhill section in the ride and my top speed was 41.8mph.
I have a few more organized rides planned this year-Pedal Palacios in October, Denton Turkey Roll in November, and the Tour de Cure in Phoenix in February.
