Dibs! Picking this up Sunday from Gary. Gray, very clean and nice in the photos.
I know this may not be the best place to post this but I developed a pretty severe case of n+1 and as a result have several nice recumbents if anyone is interested. Lightning p38. Rans stratus aluminum. Bachetta Corsa 26. Each for around 1k. Also a catrike road for 1600. Negotiable.

Hey thanks for the S40 Gary, and nice to meet you. This guy was nice enough to come meet me at a nearby electric car charging station where I was charging up after driving down to meet him.

This S40 is a nice bike. Only 50 miles or so on it so far, but I'm totally new to moving bottom bracket recumbents and the learning curve has been easier than I thought.

Sounds like you're a natural. Nice meeting you and keep us posted on your progress. I still have the vendetta v2.1 if it doesn't sell soon i might try a longer chainstay to get bb up a little higher. Any thoughts.

Gary123,
I have a large chainstay that I switched out to a medium chainstay a few years back. My shorter chainstay is now a dark gray color.
I would like to find the original colored medium chainstay.
If you decide to give it a try I would like to discuss trading my large chainstay for your medium chainstay.
Let me know.
Thanks, Tony.

The 2.1 and V20 chainstays are not quite the same. The dropout ends are the same, but the 2.1 clamps around the bottom bracket cups, while the V20 clamps just inside the cups. Both work, but for the 2.1 chainstay, the bottom bracket cups have to be flat in shape because they act as a clamping surface, and you you have to be fairly light on clamping pressure so that you don't deform the cups and squeeze the bearings. The V20 version is free of those two limitations.

Ah, that? No, it probably won't. The tube diameter on the 2.1 boom is larger, meaning that the V20 chainstay clamps won't have enough space between the bb cups and the boom tube. Forgot about that. I put a V20 front end on my 2.1 a few years back, so it has been a while since I've thought about that larger boom tube.

Thanks I was hoping for the 21.5. Not sure I want to go that high but I'll. Try to determine bb ht with chainstay. Would u sell outright in case I want to go back.

That looks like a first generation chainstay (V1), which is fine, but the shape of the fork dropouts and corresponding chainstay socket did change for the V2.0. The socket interface on the V1 was a 90 degree "round peg" fitting into a "round hole," while the V2 (and current V20) mate two corresponding 45-degree beveled edges for the peg and hole. You would want to check that first.
