S40 for sale in Oregon

As Clint Eastwood said, “A man’s got to know his limitations” and I have found mine with this bike. At 70, my balance and reaction time have me not feeling secure riding it. I don’t care to ride on road shoulders so I ride only on the local bike paths which are frequented with other bicycles, electric scooters, skate boarders and people walking with dogs or children. I find riding the S40 requires too much attention which makes the experience not enjoyable enough to make it worthwhile.

I bought the bike new from Cruzbike just one year ago and I estimate it has less than 200 miles, all on dry paved bike paths and has never been dropped. Additions are the Cruzbike rear carrier, Topeak top mounted bag, a Ventasit seat cushion and single sided clip in pedals. The only change is that I removed the hand grip tape on the bar ends and then re-attached it, so there is a duct tape strip on each side to keep it wrapped. I did this thinking I could put an Ergo hand grip on only to find they do not fit drop down style handle bars. Included is a near new aero style helmet with detachable lenses which I bought just for this bike, a handle bar mirror and bottle of synergic chain lube.

I will cover the box and boxing by a local bike shop and will shipped via any bike shipping service. The helmet and other items will be in a separate box and I will pay for the shipping.

Asking $4200 plus shipping.

I live in Portland and would be interested in a test run or weekend rental to see if this bike is a possibility. My height is 5' 11" and I live in the Garden Home region of Portland. Please let me know if this is a possibility. Thanks, Dan.

If you can make your way to Ashland you would be welcome to try it out. Have you considered contacting Rose City
Recumbent Cycles? When I lived in Portland they arranged a test ride on a Cruzbike for me.

I am 5'6" so I am guessing you would have to extend the boom out to fit you.

Good luck with the sale.. I just wanted to say that I had the S40 too and honestly didn’t feel totally at home on it until I clocked up ~1000 miles… once I’d put some miles in it eventually felt totally natural.. Hoping the soon to be unveiled V20 is a similar experience

After the S40 the Bacchetta Aero I have felt super twitchy with fast steering but it only took a few miles to become comfortable on that too

It‘s nice to see Marilyn Hayward’s legacy lives on. She was a heck of a person!
