S40 - Gen 5 vs Gen 6 vs... Questions

I've ridden a couple S40s now and I just love them. I'm hoping to pick up a used one in the not too distant future.

I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the different generations of S40 bikes... especially since their 2021 offerings when they started to use thru axles. Is there any history anywhere of which year models are referred to as Gen 4 vs Gen 5 vs Gen 6? And more importantly, what are the specific differences between the Gen 4, 5 and 6 model S40s?

The only changes between those production runs was components and colors. We were able to go back to SRAM (after having SRAM OEM on backorder for nearly three years) on the last run and of ourselves three different color choices. The main frame on from remain unchanged between those.
